To get started, turn the phone on by pressing the power button on the right-hand side of the phone

This will bring up the lock screen.

Once the lock screen has been activated, swipe up to unlock the phone and access the home screen

Find and press the Skype tile to open the application
.
We can see the tile near the middle of the screen on this device. It has a blue background with the Skype logo in the middle. If the Skype tile is not pinned to the home screen, swipe left and find it in the apps menu. We want to demonstrate how to manually call a phone number using this application. It's very simple.

All we need to do is press the white phone icon at the bottom of the screen

The first thing we need to do is choose the country code

In this example, it's set to "United States (+1)". If we want to change that, we can press on that and a list of countries with their country codes will appear.

Choose the country by pressing on it

We will choose "Christmas Islands (+61)". When we arrive back to the keypad, we will see that it has changed to "Australia (+61)".

When we're happy, we press the green button at the bottom of the phone, with a white phone in the middle

Once we press that, it will start ringing

If we had a real number, it would allow us to call it. One of the advantages of using Skype for phone calls is the low rates they have. We might find that it's actually cheaper for us to use Skype to call internationally than it is for us to use our standard mobile phone network.
