The gyroscope on the Samsung Galaxy S4 is responsible for some of the gestures of the device. Some applications also use the gyroscope for performing actions like moving from one lane to another in Temple Run or steering your vehicles on racing games. If you feel that the gyroscope is not working well or you do not receive the desired response, then you may need to calibrate it. This article will discuss how to calibrate the gyroscope on your Samsung Galaxy S4.

If your device is running Jelly Bean 4.3 or higher, the following steps to calibrate the gyroscope on a Samsung Galaxy S4 will NOT work. The gyroscope calibration settings were removed when Android released the update, Jelly Bean 4.3 back in July of 2013.

Follow the procedures below to calibrate the gyroscope on your Samsung Galaxy S4.

   On your phone, press the "Back" button a few times until it takes you to the Home screen, or press the "Home" button once

   Once on the Home screen, make a swiping gesture from the upper part of your screen to the lower part

   On the upper right portion of the Notification panel, tap on the gear icon to get to the "Settings" menu.

   You will now be taken to the Settings menu, where you can configure or change some of your phone's settings

   From the Settings menu, tap on the second tab, the My device tab

   On the My Device tab, scroll your way down to the Input and Control section and tap on Motions and Gestures

   You will now be taken to the Gyroscope Calibration page

   Tap on the Calibrate button to start calibrating your gyroscope. Before calibrating, make sure that you put your device on a flat surface and do not move your phone while calibrating is ongoing.

   The circle on the middle part will count down from three to one, and then it will show if calibration is successful or not

   Make sure that you do not move your phone and it is on a flat and even surface for the calibration to succeed.

    If your phone shows a Calibration failed

    Try again message, it means that either your phone is not on a flat and even surface, or that the phone is being moved while calibration is ongoing. If this is the case, then try to calibrate again.

I can't find the gyro calibration on my S4, after I updated my software to 4.3 jelly bean. Is there any chance or procedures to get it back?

As mentioned in this article, Samsung's Android 4.3 leaves Gyroscope Calibration off and Samsung has been notified of this concern through people complaining of the same problem. For now, you just need to wait for Samsung to fix this through an update, you can also downgrade your operating system to Android Jellybean version 4.2.2 but it will not be a good move. Everyone is waiting for Samsung to fix this issue and we will let you know and update this article once changes have been made available.

My S4 has no such option; it only has air gesture, motion, and palm motion

There is only one reason why the Gyroscope is not present on your Samsung Galaxy S4. This is due to the Android firmware that you have installed on your phone. For Samsung Galaxy Phones and even to other phone brand, the Gyroscope is no longer an added feature for your devise. It is basically being removed for some reason. If you want to calibrate the phone's touch sensitivity, you do not need to do it manually as the phone will automatically calibrate the sensor on your phone. If you want to have the Gyroscope back on your phone, what you can do is to root the phone to install a 4.2 firmware. But you may not receive any phone official updates and you would update at your own risk.

Your device will eventually get used to it and you will avoid that issue with the number "0".

My S4 running droid 4.4.2 has a fault?

After a short while, the auto rotate reverses my camera and web browser. The only way to reset it is to Factory Reset and after an hour or so the problem is back

If by reverse you mean that the letters appear to have some sort of mirror effect instead of just rotating, it needs to be fixed. You have to send your S4 back to its service center to have it replaced or fixed.

What do I do about bad reception?

When I have a call (either one I made or received) the other person tells me my voice goes out a bit, sounds muffled, and can have an echo. I just got my daughter's used S4, and I'm wondering if it needs to be re-calibrated OR if the case is hampering the call. I have tried: I've tried working with the sounds. Google cardboard is crooked - title is too short?

That's about it. When I look at VR apps in Google Cardboard the view is always tilted, even though my head is level (I think ^^). I wanted to calibrate the gyroscope but I don't have the option under "Motion". Apparently my question is too short so I'll just type some more words. How are you? How was your new year celebration?
