Block or Stop People from Sending You iMessage SMS and Text on iPhone 6

You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we're going to show you how to block people so that they are unable to send you messages or iMessages on your iPhone 6.


Steps

    To begin, press the Home button one time to open up the Lock screen.

    Swipe across to enter the pin or passcode area, or press and hold a finger or thumbprint on the Home button.

    This will take us to the Home screen where we will look for the green box with a white chat bubble in it. This should be labeled 'Messages'. This icon is where we will send messages from.

    Give a single press on 'Messages' and the screen will open. Once we have opened the 'Messages' option, we will see a list of our text messages. In this case, we have one message from Kara.

    Let's tap the bar with her name on it to see what she says. She says, "Isn't VisiHow the most amazing web site ever?". In the event that we know who Kara is, and we would like to receive messages from her, simply do nothing.

    However, if we don't know who she is or it's an unknown person, then we go over to 'Details' and tap one time.

    This brings up all the details about this call or this person, that are available to us.

    On the far right-hand side, after the person's name, you'll see a little blue 'I' in a blue circle. We want to press that.

    Once we've pressed that, we'll see all of her contacts and call details. At the very bottom, we'll see the option to 'Block this Caller'. If we have quite a bit of detail about a person, we may need to scroll up or down to actually see everything.

    In our case, we can simply tap 'Block this Caller'.

    This will open the 'Block Contact' menu, which only has two options, 'Block Contact' and 'Cancel'. Pressing 'Cancel' simply takes us back.

    'Block this Caller' takes us into the 'Block Contact' option.

    We then tap 'Block Contact'.

    Now this contact is blocked, and will not be able to contact us through chat, phone, or other methods on the iPhone 6.

    When we're finished, we simply go back on 'Details'.

    Next, press back on 'Kara'.

    We're in the 'Messages' area, but this message can now be deleted, and we will no longer hear from Kara.
