Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video we are going to show you how to block or allow JavaScript in Google Chrome on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone
.
2
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen
.
3
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards
.
4
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see several icons
.
It is one of these icons that we now need to activate in order to open Applications folder.
5
We need the icon at the bottom of the home screen and in the middle
.
It is a grid of white dots. Press down on this icon, and it will open our "Apps" folder.
6
In this folder, we need to find the Google "Chrome" application
.
It has the Google Chrome icon, which is a circle made up of several different colors. Underneath, it says the word "Chrome". This icon may be located anywhere in the "Apps" folder.
7
Once it has been found, press down on the Google Chrome icon to enter the application
.
8
Once Google Chrome is open, we need the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen
.
There are three small black dots in a vertical line.
9
Press down on this icon to open a menu
.
10
We need to scroll down until we see the word "Settings"
.
Press down on the word "Settings" to open up that menu.
11
On the "Settings" menu, we are looking for an option close to the bottom
.
It says the words "Site settings". Press down on this section.
12
On the "Site settings" menu, we want the option that says "JavaScript"
.
Underneath that it says, "Allowed". This means that this option is currently activated.
13
Press down on this section
.
14
It only shows one option on this page, and it currently says, "JavaScript - Allowed"
.
JavaScript is very important for playing videos, for flash, and or helping websites to be more interactive and to use many of the things we find on websites. If it is turned off, it can be hard to interact with a lot of websites. However, it also may be causing problems, and we might need to turn it off.
15
To do that, press down on the switch icon on the right-hand side of the screen
.
It's currently blue which means it's activated. If we press down on it, the switch will become gray.
16
Now, this option is deactivated
.
The switch is gray, and we can see that it says "Blocked" under the word "JavaScript". Now that "JavaScript" has been "Blocked", websites are blocked from using "JavaScript". This means we will have some difficulties accessing some websites.
17
However, we can see that it says, "ADD SITE" with a plus sign
.
If we press down on this section, we will be able to add websites to a list. These websites will be allowed to use JavaScript. We can select and customize which websites we want to allow to use JavaScript.
18
To turn the option on again, just press down on the switch icon again until it turns blue
.
19
Now, the JavaScript option is activated
.

This concludes our tutorial on how to block or allow JavaScript in Google Chrome on an HTC One M8
