Batch Rename Files on the Mac

You're watching VisiHow. In this video, we're going to show you how to batch-change file names on the Mac. Let's say that we have a group of files and we want to add our name to the front of all of them.

    We select all of the files to rename

    Then, we right-click the highlighted list

    To the left of the text box, we click the drop-down menu to reveal a few options

    The options are "Replace Text", "Add Text", and "Format".

    We click the drop-down menu on the right side of the text box

    We click whether the added text should go before or after the file name

    Let's keep the default setting of "before name" by clicking away from the drop-down menu.

    We click "Rename" on the bottom-right of this window

    Now, the typed name has been added to the beginning of all of the selected items.
