    We've just got the three pieces out of its internal cardboard and plastic wrappings
    .
    As far as assembly of an appliance or an item goes this is pretty easy it's only three pieces and requires no tools.

    First, we are going to start with our base plate and the stand for it
    .
    Before you undo the cord is easiest just to hold it up with it all still bunched together so that he can screw it onto the base plate and turn the two together without the cord getting all wrapped around it.

    One of the easiest things to show before it has a lampshade on it is this little silver dial here

    That is for adjusting the height of the lamp
    .
    Just loosen that and you can pull that up

    One of the things you will notice is that the cord actually goes up and down inside the light
    .
    So when you are trying to push it back down. It does not come out easily. You have to use two hands to pull on the bottom of the cord as you are pushing back down.

    That is just a little trick to make sure it goes a little more smoothly
    .
    Tighten the dial back up and leave it at the bottom location for now.

    As you can see, there is a little plastic ring on top, that ring has to be removed
    .

    Now it is time to put the lampshade on
    .
    Make sure you put it with the end where the wires are attached at the bottom set that over the lamp stand.

    We are just going to reach in the top and screw the ring back on keeping the shade down tight onto the stand

    We need a light bulb
    .
    I am going to use this IKEA 6.3 watt LED because it is a little more expensive than an incandescent, but it last a lot longer and is a lot cheaper on power while putting out the same light as a 40 watt incandescent.
