    To begin, unlock your phone by pressing the "lock" button located on the right-hand side of the phone, or use the "home" button, which is located in the middle-bottom of the phone

    If you have security restrictions enabled, enter your passcode or use the fingerprint reader

    Find and tap the Google Maps icon

    The Google Maps icon looks like the map will when you open the application. There's green, yellow, blue, and a red pinpoint. The blue would be water, the yellow would be a road and the green would be a park.

    The map will be at the last location you searched for; otherwise, it will show your current location if you have the location service enabled
    .
    If you press the white, circular button that looks like a compass, it will tell you that the service is disabled.

    Return to the home screen and tap "Settings"
