Hi, you're watching VisiHow. Today I'm going to show you how to allow Google Maps to use your current location on the iPhone 6.
Steps
1
To begin, unlock your phone by pressing the "lock" button located on the right-hand side of the phone, or use the "home" button, which is located in the middle-bottom of the phone
.
2
If you have security restrictions enabled, enter your passcode or use the fingerprint reader
.
3
Find and tap the Google Maps icon
.
The Google Maps icon looks like the map will when you open the application. There's green, yellow, blue, and a red pinpoint. The blue would be water, the yellow would be a road and the green would be a park.
4
The map will be at the last location you searched for; otherwise, it will show your current location if you have the location service enabled
.
If you press the white, circular button that looks like a compass, it will tell you that the service is disabled.
5
Return to the home screen and tap "Settings"
.
6
Scroll down and locate Google Maps in the settings menu
.
Tap it to open the settings. This will tell you the permissions that Google Maps has on your phone.
7
8
At the moment, it is set to "Never" and the other option is "While Using the App"
.
Tap "While using the App" to allow Google Maps to access your location. A check mark will appear next to the setting, and some text will pop up that explains Google Maps will access your location only when using the app.
9
Exit the settings and double tap the home button
.
Swipe the settings application up off the screen to close them, and return to Google Maps.
10
Press the white compass button to have Google Maps take you to your current location on the map
.
The blue dot with a blue circle around it is your current location.
11
You're watching VisiHow, and I've just shown you how to allow Google Maps use your location on the iPhone 6
.
If you have any comments or questions, please pop them into the section below. Thank you. Goodbye.
