Steps

    To begin, we're going to turn the phone on by pressing the power button on the right-hand side of the phone
    .
    Press that to activate the phone.

    Now, we're going to swipe up from the bottom of the phone screen
    .
    This will bring you to the Home screen or the last screen you were using. It may prompt you to enter your password.

    From the Home screen, we need to go to settings, so swipe down from the top of the phone screen to get to the notification panel

    Press All Settings on the right-hand side of your screen to go quickly to the settings

    You don't have to mess around trying to find other things.

    Scroll up and down
    .
    We're going to look for the lock screen option. When you find it, tap to open the lock screen settings.

    On that screen, scroll down to the bottom until you see the "Screen times out after" option
    .
    The number of minutes that has been selected for that will be in the box below it. My phone has 1 minute.

    A little below that you should see where it says, "Require a password after," along with an amount of time in that box
    .
    My phone is currently set to 5 minutes before needing a password to open the phone.

    You can change each of these options as you need by tapping on the number of minutes below the option
    .
    If you're someone that uses your phone a lot, but there are always gaps in between them, and you're always putting your phone down, maybe you don't want to have the hassle of putting in your password every five minutes. So we're going to change 15 minutes by pressing it from the list of choices that will appear.

    You can do the same thing for Screen times out after
    .
    Tap the number of minutes, and then choose the desired option from the list the pops up. I will change mine to three minutes.

    So as you can see, you have an additional options
    .
    The first, password On or Off, can be changed by sliding your finger across the rectangle switch on the right side of the screen. You can set up a password here if you want to put a password in. However, that is not necessary for us since we already have a password right now.

    I will need to enter my password using the keypad to turn it off
