Edited by Thor, Rushell, Eng, Lazo
Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to adjust the focus when using the Lumia Camera on a Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Once the phone is activated, swipe the lock screen up to open the home screen.
On the home screen, locate the Lumia Camera tile. It has a purple background with the image of a white camera in the middle. If Lumia Camera has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find it in the Apps menu.
Once Lumia Camera has been located, press on it to enter the application.
First, be sure the menu on the right side of the screen is visible.
If the menu is on auto, indicated by a shorter menu with an "a" in the middle, press the tiny white arrow at the bottom to expand it.
To adjust the focus manually, press the third icon down from the top. It is a the second small circle.
Pressing on this icon will bring up the option to manually adjust the camera's focus. This may be necessary in situations with more depth. If there are objects in the foreground or background, adjusting the focus can help gain more clarity in the overall image. Sometimes the camera may not know what the central focus should be, the foreground or background. This option allows more precise control of that.
Using the image of the Toucan bird as an example, we will demonstrate the different areas of focus on the curved line at the bottom of the screen. Focus can be adjusted by holding and dragging the small circle along the line or by pressing on different areas.
For this example, pressing on the far right makes the image slightly out of focus.
Moving a bit further to the left on the line brings the image more and more into sharper focus. By experimenting, it is easy to find the best option for this particular image.
Take a photo by pressing the white camera icon at the bottom of the screen.
Press the photo icon at the top right corner of the screen. This will show us the photo just taken.
To return to the camera, press the white arrow at the bottom left of the screen.
Press the focus icon again to adjust it for a new photo if desired. Play around with this option in different situations to see which position works best for each photo.
If you would like to leave the results of any experimentations or share any photos taken with us, please do in the comment section below. We would love to see them.
