    Click "Colors" in the horizontal menu at the top of the screen

    You may need to move the "Toolbox" window out of the way to see the menu.

    Then, click "Hue Saturation..."

    A dialogue box will appear where you can adjust the hue, lightness, and saturation of the image.

    The first option to click is "Preset"
    .
    Click its drop-down menu if you already have a preset saved.

    In order to add a preset later, click the plus icon once you have selected your settings

    First, click the color you want to adjust

    For this tutorial, let's select "B" (blue) by clicking it once.

    Next, you can adjust the "Overlap" value by clicking or dragging the scroller

    You can also use the up and down arrows or type a number next to "Overlap"

    After that, you can adjust your selected color by using the "Hue", "Lightness", and "Saturation" scrollers in the same way

    Experiment with these scrollers to view the different effects. The changes will be reflected both on the preview and on the selected color at the top. Make sure that the "Preview" button is checked. It is in the lower left-hand corner. You will see the changes as you make them.

    If you want to start over, you can click "Reset Color" below the "Hue", "Lightness", and "Saturation" scrollers

    You can click "Reset Color" to reset all of the settings and go back to "0"

What is overlap in hue-saturation on gimp and why is it used?

I'm trying to correct some images I photographed, the colors on the image aren't nearly what they are in real life so I'm using hue-saturation and have figure out the other options but can't see what overlap does.
