Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to adjust the flash for the Camera on an HTC One M8.

Steps

  1. 1
    To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone
    .
    Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

    To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

    Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the Camera application.

    To do that, we can use the icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen

    There is an icon of a Camera. Press down on this icon, and it will open the Camera. We want to demonstrate how to adjust the flash.

    To do that, we can press down on the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
    .
    There's a lightning bolt with an arrow on the end, and it currently has the letter "A" on top of it. This means that the flash is in Auto mode, so it's going to decide itself if it is needed. If it realizes it's dark, it's going to automatically use the flash. If there's enough light, it won't use the flash. Once we tap on it, we will see the "A" has disappeared, which means that the flash is no longer automatic, it's on. We're forcing the camera to flash.

    If we press down on the icon again, it will add a circle with a line, which means the flash has been turned off

    If we press down again, it will take us back to the Auto mode with the "A"
    .
    We're going to press it again to turn the flash on.

    We're now going to press down on the camera icon at the bottom to take a photo
    .
    We will see the flash being used.

    If we press down on the flash icon again, it will turn the flash off

    If we press down on the camera icon again, we'll see the flash has been turned off

    Choose the option that's needed when taking a photo. Sometimes if we're in low lighting and we use the flash, it ruins the photo because it gives too much light to the subject. Experiment and play with the flash to see what situations you need to use it in and what kind of effect it can have on your photos.
