Add and Delete Events When Using Google Calendar on Samsung Galaxy S5
Edited by Grimm, Zack, Eng, Jen M
Hi and welcome to VisiHow. Today, we're going to show you how you can use your Samsung Galaxy S5 or S5 mini and set up a new event on the Google Calendar application.
Steps
1
To start off, let's give this Lock Screen button a push to open it up, and we can just slide across the screen
.
You may have a lock pattern, fingerprint scan or complex password. In any case, you want to enter that yourself.
2
Once you're in the screen you'll see the Google Calendar icon here, which should be from your install
.
If it's not there, that's no problem. You're just going to go down here to the Apps icon. It looks like a little checkerboard. Give it a tap and it'll open that up.
3
You might have to scroll around a little but; however, scrolling through you'll find the blue 31 icon again
.
It's a little square calendar page that says "Calendar" right under it. That's your Google Calendar icon. Give that a single tap.
4
It's going to open up your Google Calendar
.
Now that we're on Google Calendar, it's very easy to add an event. Looking on this page, where would we look for the most obvious place to open a new event? This big red plus here. Let's give it a single tap. Now what this does is it lets us create a new event. See here where it says, "New event" at the top?
5
For the event title, we'll put Jury Duty
.
6
Where's our jury duty going to be
?
Let's make it in D.C. Everybody loves jury duty in D.C. There we go.
7
OK, so we're going to have jury duty and it's going to be with my good friend Mr. Hamed. Now as you see here, adding contacts does not send out an invitation. When you're adding people the actual invitation is not sent out, and personally I find that to be a good thing.
8
Just tap on the 'Done' button down here.
9
Here we have 'Events'; just tap the calendar you want
.
I can tap 'My Calendar'. That's going to put the event on 'My Calendar'.
10
Here we can choose whether it's an all-day event
.
If it's not an all-day event, then you can choose when it is, how long it is and what's happening.
11
More options here; does it repeat or does it not repeat
?
In my case, it does not repeat.
12
If we would like to add a notification, we can tap on 'Add a notification'
.
We've got a notification on the day, the day before in the evening or in the morning, or we can tap 'Custom'. Tapping 'Custom' let's us choose how far in advance we want it, whether we're going to have a notification or whether we're going to have an email. Let's make that as an email, then we tap 'Done'.
13
Now, we can add another notification if we would like to
.
Let's go ahead and check one here for 17:00. That way we get notified twice on the day.
14
We can invite more people
.
Let's go ahead and invite myself - nice and easy. Done. Now I'm also invited.
15
The event color can be changed
.
Let's make it 'Peacock'.
16
I'll let myself know to upload. You can add any kind of information you want to put in here. I'm just simply tapping stuff.
17
Tap on 'Save' once you've got your notes put in
.
There's your event created.
18
Now let's go back to our event
.
Here's the event. It comes up.
19
If I want to edit that event, I just tap this blue edit button
.
That lets me go back into the event and edit or change things.
20
Now I can add an attachment, which I didn't choose to do earlier
.
This will let me choose something from Google Drive. I can cancel this if I don't want to add an attachment.
21
I can edit the 'Calendar default'
.
This lets me choose whether it's public or private. So I'm just going to use the calendar default.
22
And I can set my time as available or busy
.
23
Now I can save the event again
.
24
And when you're finished with it, just tap the little 'x' button, and there's your event
.
25
If you decide to delete it, just tap on the edit button here, and down at the bottom tap on 'Delete'
.
26
Google's going to ask you if you want to delete it
.
You're going to say 'Yes'. And the event's gone; deleted! No more event on that day.
27
Let's go ahead and press the 'Home' button at the bottom of our phone
.
That's going to take us home.
28
That concludes our tutorial on how to use the Google Calendar application on Galaxy S5 or Galaxy S5 Mini
.
Thanks for choosing VisiHow. Have a great day, and we look forward to seeing you on other tutorials!
