You're watching VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to add fingerprints to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
Steps
1
In order to add our fingerprints, our phone needs to be unlocked
.
2
Once we are on the home screen, we swipe down from the top of the phone
.
Swiping down will open the notifications panel. On the upper-right side, we will see a gear-shaped icon.
3
We tap on the gear-shaped icon one time
.
We will be taken to the "Settings" panel.
4
On the "Settings" panel, we are looking for the "Lock screen and security" icon
.
The icon should be enabled in our "Quick settings" area.
5
If the "Lock screen and security" icon is not in the "Quick settings" area, we scroll down
.
6
We tap on "Lock screen and security" one time under the "Personal" section
.
Once we've tapped on "Lock screen and security", we will be taken to the "Lock screen and security" panel. Under "Security", we will see the first option, "Fingerprints".
7
We tap on "Fingerprints" once
.
Then, we will see the "Manage fingerprints" section.
8
We tap the green plus sign once
.
We will be given a disclaimer informing us that our fingerprints will be stored on our device.
9
10
Then, we simply place our finger on the home button and we lift the finger off
.
We move it up and down between the attempts. For example, let's press our thumb against the home key. In this video, 4 % recognition will be gained.
11
12
We move our thumb off to the side a bit
.
13
We move our thumb down a little bit
.
14
We continue moving our thumb, allowing our phone to scan the entire finger
.
It does take a moment. Once we've finished scanning the finger, we'll be given instructions to place the tip of the same finger on the home button and lift the finger off. We'll be adding our fingerprint to the image again and again.
15
16
We continue scanning our finger by following the instructions
.
17
If we move the finger off too quickly, we'll get a message that our finger needs to stay on the home button longer
.
So, we keep the finger on the home key a little longer. We will successfully add our fingerprint.
18
We will be asked to provide a back-up password
.
It needs to have six letters, including at least one letter and one number. It might be a good idea to put something short with numbers ending in a year. We enter the backup password. In this video, it is "visi15". Those are "visi" and "2015", which are easy to remember.
19
20
We confirm the password and tap on "OK"
.
In this video, the password is "visi15". Now, we will be able to enable the fingerprint lock if we would like.
21
We can tap on "OK" to set fingerprints as the screen lock
.
22
Alternatively, we can tap on "CANCEL" if we don't want to set fingerprints as the screen lock
.
Let's tap on "CANCEL".
23
When we have finished, we can press the home button
.
We will go back to the home screen.
