Add Recycle Bin to Taskbar in Windows 7
Edited by Lukward Thomason, Alexander Avdeev
Hi! You're watching VisiHow! This is a tutorial on how to add Recycle Bin to the taskbar in Windows 7.
Steps
1
For example, when we go ahead and drag and drop Recycle Bin to the taskbar, it will be pinned
.
It will have the Windows Explorer icon.
2
When we click the pinned Recycle Bin, Windows 7 won't show us Recycle Bin
.
3
First, we are going to unpin Recycle Bin from the taskbar
.
We can do that by right-clicking the icon and selecting "Unpin this program from taskbar".
4
We need to create a new shortcut on the desktop by right-clicking the desktop
.
5
Then, we hover over "New"
.
6
7
Now, in the location of the item, we type "%systemroot%\explorer.exe shell:recyclebinfolder"
.
8
9
Now, we name the shortcut
.
The proper name for the shortcut will probably be "recycle bin".
10
The Recycle Bin shortcut will be created, but the icon will look wrong.
11
To change the icon, we need to right-click on the shortcut
.
12
Then, we click "Properties"
.
13
From the new window, we need to click "Change Icon..." A list of icons will be shown
.
14
We should choose one that we see fit
.
In this example, the Recycle Bin basket icon is chosen.
15
16
The icon will be changed.
17
Now, if we drag and drop it to the taskbar, the shortcut will be pinned there
.
18
If, for example, we put the "recycle bin" shortcut to Recycle Bin, and open the shortcut from the taskbar, Windows 7 will show us Recycle Bin itself
.
This concludes the tutorial on how to add Recycle Bin to the taskbar in Windows 7. Thank you for watching VisiHow! If you have any other comments or questions, please leave them in the comment section below.
