Add Food to MyFitnessPal on iPhone 6
Edited by Freya, Alexander Avdeev
Hi! You are watching VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how you can add food to your 'MyFitnessPal' application on the iPhone 6.
Steps
1
To begin, we should unlock our phone, which we can do by pressing the big round 'Home' button located at the bottom of the center of the phone
.
2
Alternatively, we can press the 'Lock' button on the right-hand side of the phone
.
3
Once the 'Lock' screen is up, we should swipe right
.
4
We can enter our passcode or just hold the finger onto the 'Home' button, which doubles as a scanner as well
.
This takes us into our 'Home' screen.
5
We should find the 'MyFitnessPal' icon
.
In this example, everything is personalized, and the icon is in the 'Useful' folder. The icon itself is blue and has a silhouette of a person in white jumping, and there is a tab with a dumb-bell in the top-left corner of the icon.
6
We tap 'MyFitnessPal' to open the application
.
Immediately, it takes us to the home page. There are five different choices in the grey bar along the bottom. We need the icon in the middle. The icon has a blue circle and a plus inside.
7
We need to tap the plus icon
.
Five options will be brought up.
8
The icon is a red option with a knife and fork. This will ask us to select a meal.
9
Let's assume that it's morning and tap 'Breakfast'
.
The application will give us the option to add some breakfasts. The application will automatically bring up the food that is eaten more often. In this example, it is porridge.
10
We can also search for the food in the 'Search for a food' search bar
.
The search bar is white.
11
We can type the name of the food by using the virtual keyboard
.
Let's assume that we had muesli. As we type, the phone might show prompts to finish typing if that is enabled. We can select the food from the prompt bar above the virtual keyboard or finish typing the name.
12
We tap 'Search' in the bottom right corner as soon as the food name is entered
.
As we can see, there are different types of muesli from which we can choose. We can scroll through and see that the food varies slightly depending on the calories, and we can choose whichever one we want. There are Aidi, Jordans, Bircher, etc. We can just select plain muesli. The plain food is usually the average version.
13
For example, let's tap 'Alpen'
.
There will be a screen that will ask us about the serving size.
14
We can simply tap the 'Serving Size' bar
.
15
We can change the measurement
.
There are grams, ounces, containers, cups, and it would vary depending on the type of food. In this video, the measurements are for muesli. Other foods will have cups or containers as measurements. There is the indication of the container size as well. Let's just tap '1 g'.
16
We tap the 'Service Size' again
.
We can see the blue tick on the right-hand side next to '1 g' now. Notice that before, it was on the first one ('45 g'). For example, we tap '45 g'.
17
We tap 'Number of Servings'
.
18
We can scroll to the number of servings that we had
.
It can be 1 serving.
19
Then we can add halves, quarters, and thirds to full servings
.
Let's pick 1/2. In this video, this will make up 1.5 servings.
20
We can tap the white tick in the blue bar to confirm the serving size
.
21
We can also tap 'Decimal'
.
22
We can choose, for example, 1.5 by typing
.
It changes our results on the screen accordingly.
23
We can also choose, for example, 2
.
Now, we can see that it has changed.
24
Now, we can tap the white tick to bring up the rest of the menu
.
25
As we scroll down, the application gives us the nutritional value of the particular meal, depending on how much and what we eat
.
26
Then, we just tap the white tick in the top right-hand corner to add the food
.
Now, we can see that in the diary today we have the food. In our example, there are two servings of muesli, which are at 340 calories. The applications highlights in green that the food has a lot of iron.
27
To add anything else, we can tap 'Add Food' and do the same thing again
.
28
We tap the arrow in the top left-hand corner again to go back
.
29
If we want, we can tap the plus icon again
.
As we can see along the top, our calorie count has added exactly the number of calories, and that calorie count shows how much we have left for the day.
30
We can add a different meal again by clicking the 'Food' icon in red
.
31
For example, we can go for 'Dinner'
.
32
We'll simply tap on 'Asian Udon Noodle Soup' in this tutorial
.
It will come up with what we had before and what we possibly ate with it.
33
We tap the back arrow now to go back
.
34
We can tap the 'Recent' button along the top bar to see our recent food
.
The button is located under the 'Search for a food' search box.
35
We can tap the 'Frequent' button to show the things that we eat quite a lot
.
36
We can tap the 'My Foods' button to see the saved food
.
37
We can tap the 'Meals' button to see our own meal that we have made
.
38
We can tap the 'Recipes' button to see our own recipes that we have made
.
39
40
We tap 'Red Kidney Beans Stew' for this tutorial
.
41
We can team foods by tapping the circle on the left-hand side
.
The circles will light up with blue ticks.
42
We can go back by tapping the white tick in the top right-hand corner
.
The application will add information on the screen telling how many calories we have left for the day. It serves as a warning as well because we know how many calories are left at the end of the day (when we have dinner, in this example). We do not need to save anything here.
43
Tap the 'Home' icon in the bottom left-hand corner
.
44
Tap the 'Diary' icon at the bottom to go back to the 'Diary' menu
.
We can add more food from here.
45
Tap the 'Home' icon in the bottom left-hand corner to go back to the main menu
.
