You can access your favorite apps right from the Home Screen of your Samsung Galaxy.

Home screen shortcuts on the Samsung Galaxy S5 help you quickly open applications and folders that you regularly use. This way you don't need to scroll through application menus, or cycle through multiple buttons and screens just to find an app. Instead, you can add an application icon to any Home Screen, and just tap it once to open the app.

Delete Application Shortcuts From Your S5 Home Screen

You can delete shortcuts from the Home Screen, but it will not delete the associated App.

If you think that a shortcut needs to be removed from the Home screen, you can simply remove it by following the procedures below. Take note that removing applications shortcut from the Home screen only deletes the shortcut icon on the Home screen. The application will not be deleted and can still be accessed through the application list.

Tips and Suggestions on Home Screen App Shortcuts

  • Deleting an application icon from the Home screen does not uninstall the application. It just removes the shortcut icon.
  • Some factory or carrier applications can not be deleted. You will instead need to disable them. To disable an application icon, please view the Q&A section at the bottom of this article, and follow the steps there.

How to move apps to different screens on Samsung S5?

Holding the icon for 2-3 seconds doesn't show the trash can at the top. I'm unable to delete it.

If you are attempting to delete a factory app, such as S Voice, then you will not be able to delete it the normal way. Instead, you will need to disable it. You can disable apps on the Samsung Galaxy S5 by following these steps:

I believe my phone must have updated or my daughter moved stuff when she was using it. I usually keep Facebook at the bottom for quick access. It's gone from there but it isn't on my apps pages either. I have to Google Facebook each time I want it to open. It is in my recently removed place but it will not put it back?
