Composing a Letter of Invitation
When writing a letter of invitation, there is a certain degree of formality you should use, depending on your relationship with the person you are inviting. It can vary if you are writing to a friend, a co-worker, boss, or anyone else. Below are some ideas to get you started with your letter of invitation.
How To Format A Letter Of Invitation
- 1For instance, you can use "Dear" for a friend, but not for a boss. Uses Madam or Sir to begin a letter to your boss.Start with a friendly but appropriate greeting.Advertisement
- 2Are you inviting the recipient to a wedding? A birthday party? Write the kind of event, and the people involved. (i.e. who is getting married? Whose birthday?)Mention the purpose of your invitation.Advertisement
- 3If there's a special significance, you may also include an explanation of why you chose the date, time, or location.Clearly state the exact date, time and location.
- 4Let the recipient know if they can bring guests, mention how many. You can also extend the invitation to specific other family members.Mention who else is invited.
- 5Mention if there are any special requirements in dress code or if the recipient will need to bring anything. Include a brief description of the event.Explain a little about the event.
- 6Use the phrase 'R.S.V.P. by' and give a date. You can also use 'please reply if you can attend' or 'let us know at your earliest convenience'.Request a confirmation.
- 7Express your anticipation of the reader's acceptance.Advertisement

Invite Your Boss To Dinner
Dear Mr. Bausse,
Good day! I am writing today to invite you to dinner so we can discuss a few things regarding our new management. The dinner will be held at The Mighty King Restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Eastwood City Mall on September 3, 2014. Please let me know if you can make as soon as you can so I can finalize the reservation.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Writing a letter to your boss can be very nerve-racking: you have to write in a professional tone, and make sure nothing you say can be misread negatively. Below is another example of how to write a letter of invitation to your boss:
Dear Mr. Sunny,
I am writing today to invite you to dinner as a way to show my appreciation for all the projects you've given me. I would love to treat you to dinner as a way of expressing my thanks. We can also take this time to discuss future projects. I've scheduled a reservation at the Golden Restaurant on September 10, 2014.
Sincerely, Josh Belle 555-555-1292 (your number) Josh Belle@yahoo.com (your email address)
It might be a bit presumptuous to include a date when it's only your boss you're asking for dinner. Perhaps it might be better to give him a selection of dates, or include something like, "are you available any week night during the first week of August?". Setting the date before you ask your boss for dinner may backfire.
I'd like to invite you all for a group breakfast at Tiffany's on September 12, 2014, at 10 PM for a get together after work. I hope you guys can come.
Let me know as soon as you can, so I can start arranging it. See you there!
Sincerely, Anne Japalen
Here is another sample of invitation to co-workers:
I am inviting you all to my party on September 8, 2014, at Big Restaurant at 5:30 PM. I'll be honored if you come to the party, which is being held in celebration of our company's success, both in the past and for the future.
Let me know by the 5th if you will be attending, so I can make arrangements. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you all at the party.

I need to send an email invitation to all my friends for a party?
To send an email to all of your friends, make sure you know all of your friends' email addresses and enter them all into the To field, with each address separated by a comma. Example: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com.
That being said, many people don't like their email addresses to be seen by every person you send the email to. Try this instead. Put your own email address in the TO: field. Put everyone else's email, as indicated above, in the BC field. This enables you to send all the emails at once, but the people invited will only be able to see their own email address.
In the subject line put: Party Invitation.
The body of your invitation can be as personal as you want it to be, but make sure it includes the following:
- Place, date, and time.
- What's going on at the party.
- If they need to bring anything.
- The dress code.
- Date by which they should RSVP.
How can I write an invitation letter?
I want to write an invitation letter for dinner
An invitation letter does not have to be very long. In fact, the more concise you can make it, the better. People don't want to devote much time to reading your letter. What's important, is that you explain these main points quickly so the recipients of your letter can decide if they can make your event:
- Purpose of the invitation.
- Date & time.
- Any specific expectations that you may have of the person attending.
- Process to confirm attendance.
I want to send an invitation to my guests for a very special dinner.
My English is not really good and I have never done it before. I really want some recommendations from you on how to write a proper letter. Thank you so much. As you can see, I want to write an invitation letter for my guests to come to our wine dinner next week. How should I write it so they will come? :D Thank you so much for your help. I'd love to hear from you soon!
Your email invitation should give them a good first impression. You can get personal or formal in the letter; depending on the occasion or how well acquainted you are with the guest. When creating or drafting an invitation letter, you must be as accurate and detailed as possible. It should also be engaging and informative. Here is a sample letter that you can refer to when preparing your own invitation letter:
Hello [GUEST'S NAME],
I would like to invite you for a wine dinner on [DATE] at [TIME] at [PLACE]. This is a black tie event, so please wear your nicest tuxedo or gown. This wine dinner is for [PURPOSE]. Your presence is important and would be greatly appreciated. Please RSVP so I can finish setting the event up.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Cheers, [YOUR NAME]

How do I jazz up a Pastor's Luncheon invitation?
I'm having difficulty writing an invitation for a pastor's luncheon. I want to be creative with it.
Keep in mind that invitation letters do not have to be long. What's important is that you state what the event is about and the relevant details such as date, time, and venue. Beyond that, you can get creative with it. One idea is to tell a fun story from your church that your invitation's recipients will remember, or laugh about.
Yes sir, thank you. How about this, sir?
Last month you had a holiday overseas where you stayed with some friends. They just sent you some photos of the holiday. Write a letter explaining why you didn't write earlier and invite them to come and stay with you. That's all sir Thank you.
It is a great pleasure to receive the memories of the last holiday that we shared together! I apologize for the absence of correspondence with you that can only be justified with my constant writing business letters, completely forgetting my own personal life. Thank you again for making my day brighter with these photographs!
As you reminded me I need to take a break from business, I would like to propose another mutual short holiday, where you and I can spend some time together at my place. You do not need to bring anything. I hope you will be my guests.
Please let me know when you are coming so I can prepare for the most entertaining stay for you.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Inviting company management team and customers for dinner gathering?
I want to send an official invitation to my company managers and also our customers to invite them to a dinner gathering on behalf of my company. I don't have any idea about the content I should include, I just have address and date and a snapshot of Google map for the address.
What you have so far is the basic information needed with the addition of adding the time of the event. Since you are inviting managers as well as customers you should make an invitation that has a theme. The theme can be simple like "An Evening Under The Stars" if you are doing an outdoor dinner party. Greetingsisland.com GREETINGSISLAND has many free printable dinner party themed templates that would give your invitation a more formal appearance. Since you are doing a dinner party, you will want to put what type of meal such as sit down, buffet or BBQ for instance.

How can I start an article for a newspaper?
If I want to write an article, how can I write it?
You would write it as a factual story with details to back up those facts. You also can write an opinion letter and submit it to the "Letters To The Editor" section of your local paper. Most publishing companies require a journalism degree and with the advent of free informational blogs and websites, the journalism field is very hard to get into, and harder still to get paid for.
