Windows Black Screen of Death with moveable cursor?
I tried these solutions but so far no interaction with computer. Also, the attempting booting the Windows installation DVD results in the same screen with no function. And booting system recovery DVD. I conclude something changed with the BIOS or with the display which means Windows can't get past the black screen when booting. . . Is there a way to access the BIOS via Setup (F2 during boot on my system) to check display settings? What is it that allows the initial 'Starting Windows' to display (complete with groovy coloured windows), but then it goes black? Finally, also tried booting a new system on a new disk - same result. I think it was caused by: I guess something about the way the display changes from the initial 'Starting Windows' display (which is visible) to when Windows login should appear (but never does - instead just black screen).
