Why does my phone number say unknown?
My phone has no service for some reason so I can't ring or text to find out my number and I have tried everything
You have a couple of options available to you if you're still trying to figure out what your phone number is. Your SIM card may have the number written on it somewhere, so popping it out and taking a quick look at it could solve your problem pretty fast. You might also check in your device, as Android can read a number that is programmed into the SIM card and display it for you.
You can find the guide for how to do this in the main article.
If neither of these methods works for you, it's likely that there is an issue with the SIM card or the device itself. Power down and open up your device and check to make sure the SIM card is installed correctly before powering on again to try it out. You can find a guide for how to do so here: Install SIM Card and Battery on Samsung Galaxy S4.
If the SIM is installed correctly and the issue is still not solved, try verifying the network type your phone is attempting to connect to.
- Open "Settings"
- Next, tap "Connections"
- Select "More networks"
- Tap "Mobile networks"
- Select "Choose Network Mode"
- Choose whichever connection type is used by your carrier.
You should also take the time to clear your cache, as this is another possible factor that can explain why your SIM is not working. This article will be able to help you do so: Clear Cache, Cookies and History on Samsung Galaxy S4
If none of these methods has done the trick, it's possible that your device is overheating - which has been known to cause SIM card issues with the S4. Remove any cases that are on your phone and allow it to sit and cool down for a while before attempting to use your device.
Finally, if you still can't connect, you should take your phone to your carrier for servicing.
