Why does PPSSPP show an error when I try to open it?
My PPSSPP emulator is saying that my GPU does not support OpenGL 2.0.
Unfortunately, PPSSPP requires a GPU that is new and powerful enough to support OpenGL 2.0. If your installation of the PPSSPP emulator is telling you that your GPU (graphics processing unit) does not support OpenGL 2.0, you unfortunately may not be able to use the PPSSPP emulator the way it was originally intended. To absolutely make sure that your current GPU does not support OpenGL 2.0, and that there isn't an update for your GPU available to download and install, do the following:
- 1Click the Start button.
- 2Right-click on Computer.
- 3Click Properties.
- 4Click Device Manager.
- 5Expand the Display adapters section to learn your model.
- 6Search Google for "[your GPU model] OpenGL 2.0 support."
Google will now pull up results to let you know whether or not your particular GPU has OpenGL 2.0 support. If you find that your model does support OpenGL 2.0, you can search Google for "[your GPU model] OpenGL 2.0 update" and download it from your GPU manufacturer's website. However, if your GPU does not support OpenGL 2.0, you will need to download a third-party port that allows you to run the PPSSPP emulator on older or low-powered hardware. This port reduces your FPS (frames per second) rate by roughly 2-4 FPS, but your games will still be playable. Click here to download the third-party PPSSPP port to use on your computer.
- If you have problems with any of these steps, ask a question for more help, or post in the comments section below.
