Samsung Tab connects to WiFi OK through router but when try to connect through WiFi repeater it times out trying to obtain IP address

This sounds like an issue with your repeater more than it does an issue with your Samsung Tab. Try updating the firmware of the repeater, or try a different repeater and see if that works any better. You might also go into the settings for the repeater to make sure the frequency it is broadcasting isn't interfering with any other networks in your area.
