What was the exact error message that popped up? Generally, when the issue is with graphics, it has to do with the video card drivers. You may want to check and see if there are updated drivers for your graphics card. On your notebook or Laptop, you will most likely have an integrated chipset. Check the manufacturer's site for the updated driver, if there are any.

If you cannot get the new drivers from the manufacturer's site, you can also try to determine the maker of the graphics chipset with the help of a software called CPUID. Check out their website here:

http://www.cpuid.com/

The program will identify your Laptop's internal hardware, including the graphics card/chipset. You can then go from there to download an appropriate driver.
