Use Voice Dictation to Write Messages on HTC One M8

Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to use your voice to write a message on an HTC One M8.

Steps

    To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the top of the phone

    Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.

    To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and hold until you see the symbol at the bottom with arrows moving from lock to unlock

    Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen, and at the bottom will be several different icons

    It is here that we need to find the Messages icon. This icon is a white square or rectangular speech bubble with three green horizontal lines inside.

    Press down on the Messages icon, and it's going to open up our messages

    First, press down on any message thread or conversation

    It is located just to the right of the space bar.

    Press and hold down that microphone button until the white square with the microphone icon on it appears above your finger

    Now, let go, and it's going to bring up this option

    It's going to record what we say. Hello. How are you today? Thank you for the chocolates.

    Now, we can press on the green circle to pause the recording
    .
    As we can see, as soon as we pressed the icon on the keypad, it began recording. It has also typed what we have said into the message window. It's very important to try and speak slowly and clearly, and try to speak directly to the phone in order to give the application the best chance possible to understand what you're saying. Once satisfied with the message, we can go back into the message to send it.

    However, we can also record more by pressing on the microphone icon again in the middle

    The circle with the microphone inside will turn green again, and it's going to allow us to continue speaking. Would you like to go bowling on Sunday?

    OK, we'll press the icon again to pause

    The application has actually been very successful. It has recorded and typed what I've said almost perfectly. There is a lack of punctuation, but that's not a massive problem.

    Now, press the x at the top right corner of the microphone window at the bottom of the screen

    That's going to take us back into the message that we're trying to send.

    We can edit what we've written if desired

    For example, we can press down next to a word and add a full stop by adding period. We could continue editing the message.

    To continue recording, press down on the microphone button on the keypad again until the larger white box with the microphone appears

    Then it will once again take us to that section.
