You're watching VisiHow. In this video tutorial, we are going to review how to enable and disable "Assistant menu" on the Samsung Note 10.1 (2014 Edition).
We tap and swipe down the screen from the top of the home screen.
We will access our notification panel.
In the top right-hand corner, we will be able to find the gear- or wheel-shaped icon.
The icon stands for Settings. We tap it once.
Now that we are in Settings, we must tap on "Device".
In "Device", we locate the left-hand panel with various options.
We locate and tap "Accessibility".
In "Accessibility", we tap and scroll all the way down the menu until we find "Dexterity".
In "Dexterity", we will find "Assistant menu".
To turn on "Assistant menu", we tap the button next to it until it is green.
We will see a small icon appear. This is the "Assistant menu" icon.
We can drag the small icon.
We can drag it to anywhere on the screen to our preference.
We tap the small icon.
This is a fast and easy menu, which will be with us on the home screen and in various applications. In this small menu, we can open notifications, go to the home screen, go back, set the volume, lock the screen, restart the phone, power down the phone, open the device, zoom, go to Settings, etc.
We tap on "Assistant menu" itself.
We will be able to add additional icons. We can see that "Dominant hand" is set to "Right" in the notification box.
We can tap "Dominant hand" and then tap "Left".
The "Assistant menu" panel will move to the left.
We tap "Edit".
We can reorder our applications.
For example, we can add "Set brightness" to the list.
We have to note that when the menu is full, we cannot add any other options.
If we want to remove an option, we drag it to the lower section.
If we want to add an option, we drag the icon with the plus icon into the "Assistant menu" section.
Let us go back to the home screen by tapping the home button.
We will find our "Assistant menu" panel on the left.
Let's tap the "Assistant menu" panel.
Let's perform a couple of actions.
We can tap "Settings" via the "Assistant menu" panel.
We will access Settings.
We can also rotate our screen by tapping "Rotate screen".
We might see a warning reading: "Unable to rotate screen. Turn off auto rotate screen to use this function?"
We tap the screen orientation to rotate our screen.
We can rotate it according to what we would like.
Let's tap "Open notification...".
This will bring up the notification menu.
To disable "Assistant menu", we tap "Settings" in the "Assistant menu" panel.
We tap the green button to turn off the "Assistant menu".
