Use Bluetooth with Galaxy S5
Edited by Grimm, Jentruh, Eng, Inukshuk and 2 others
Hi, you're watching VisiHow and today we are going to show you how to set up Bluetooth on your Samsung Galaxy S5 or S5 mini or any other Android phone for that matter.
It's very simple and very easy to set up Bluetooth.
To start with your going to want to press your home button to make sure, you're on your home screen. We are already on the home screen So we are just going to start from here.
You can tap on apps, when you tap on apps, it's going to open the application menu.
You're going to look for settings, tapping on settings.
It will open up your settings panel.
Right at the top of quick settings, you're going to see Bluetooth icon.
You can simply tap on Bluetooth and that will give you the option to turn on Bluetooth.
In addition to turning on Bluetooth which is the button here.
You will be able to also see that there are three little dots and those three little dots will give you another menu.
Visibility timeout, which is available when Bluetooth is turned on, you'll have received files, which can show you the files that you've received, you'll have the ability to rename your device and of course just to get help.
So let's go ahead and turn on Bluetooth.
Now at the moment I don't have any other Bluetooth devices active so this is going to scan and probably find nothing.
However, It may find a neighbors phone or something else, but I doubt it. OK so HK Nova, it did, in fact, find something.
I don't know what that is, so we are not going to try and connect to it.
One of the great advantages of living in an apartment thought is that free WiFi which runs so slowly. So now what we are going to do is, we are going to go into our visibility area here, so Galaxy S5 is not visible to other devices, Tap to make visible to nearby devices. So I can tap this check box, to make it visible.
I will just tap it one time, there we go and now we are visible.
You can see I have a timer counting down, one minute and 56 seconds is how long I will be visible.
I can change that visibility timeout
Now what I am doing is tapping the three buttons, the three menu buttons, tapping visibility timeout.
I have two minutes, five minutes, 1 hour and never timeout.
I do not recommend setting it to never timeout unless you actually have real function that your using your Bluetooth for because it will drain your battery when you phone is constantly trying to say "Hi, everyone I'm here on Bluetooth".
So two minutes is fine for me, let's hit cancel.
We can also select receive files that are going to show us where our files would be.
I have no files received yet.
So there's nothing in my transfer history.
A little bit of history, by the way, the Bluetooth icon is actually a combination of ancient ruins Futhark.
Futhark, the old runic alphabet runic language and its representative of the messenger God. Which was created by a team that designed the Bluetooth. Strange internet tidbit that I discovered the other day.
So here are three dots again, now we can rename the device.
Currently, the device names are displayed to show you and separate the devices from others, so you can tell them apart.
If you had a room full of devices then they would all look the same. I would want to name my something unique. So I am going to go ahead change the name of this device, so I'm just going to go here, we go to settings, general, about device, and then device name if you want to change it or I can just tap OK.
Now I am in there, this is about my device.
Status, legal name, report diagnostic info, and here we go device name. Galaxy S5 mini.
Now I can change that to something else.
So let's go ahead and make it say "VisiHow", OK.
We are re-named to VisiHow.
Alright, now if I want to turn off my Bluetooth, I can just tap the "Turn Off" button.
If I want to get some help with Bluetooth, I can tap on the help button.
That's going to help a little, It's just going to give me some information, tap here to go back.
Back into Bluetooth.
If I want to try and connect to this device, it's going to try and connect me to the HK Nova. Realistically, I don't really want to connect to that device, but I'm just showing you how it works.
Now I'm connected to media audio, I can tap on the settings and I can start using the media audio.
Now If I want to turn it off, I simply tap it again, this will turn off the media audio.
OK, let's turn that off.
Now, it's turned off and disconnected, OK.
I can also tap here and un-pair, remove myself from it.
So ladies and gentlemen, that is how you use Bluetooth on the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Thank you for using VisiHow and remember to turn off your Bluetooth if you are not using it. Oops!
Thanks very much and have a great day.
