Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to set a voice recording as the ringtone on an HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone On, by pressing the Power button located on top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down and swipe up.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen and some icons at the bottom.
It's here that we will find our application folder.
We can see that the center icon looks like a square of little white dots.
Press down on this icon. This is our application folder.
In this section, we need to find the Voice Recorder.
Here we have all of our applications. In this video, we are learning how to set our voice recording as the ringtone for the HTC One M8.
We need to press on a folder called "Tools", in the bottom right-hand corner.
It may be located in a different position if we have moved some of these application tiles around. Press down on it, and a section with all of the applications in this folder will appear.
On here, is the Voice Recorder application.
If we've taken the Voice Recorder application out of this folder, then we will need to find it. By default, it should be in the "Tools" folder. It looks like a microphone. Press down on this icon. It will open the Voice Recorder.
Now, we can record our voice.
We can set anything we record as our own, personal ringtone, instead of using one of the generic ringtones that come with the HTC One M8.
To record, press the red circle.
When we press this, it will start recording. We should speak clearly into the phone, and pronounce our words. For example I'm going press the red circle, then say, "You've got a phone call! The phone's ringing...Pick up the phone!"
Press down on the two vertical lines to pause the recording.
Press down on the grey square to stop recording.
We can listen to the recording by pressing the Play icon.
It's the grey triangle.
When we're satisfied with our recording, look for the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
It looks like three small, white squares in a vertical line. Press down on this. It will open a menu.
Press down on the option named, "Set as ringtone".
It will ask us if we want to set it as a "Phone ringtone", "Contact ringtone", or "Trim the ringtone" (This option will allow us to edit it).
We just need to set it as the "Phone ringtone". Press down on this option.
We can choose which slot we want to put this onto or to join it with.
The slot we want to use depends on our SIM card. Make sure we know which slot we need to use. We are using "Slot 1".
The panel at the bottom says, "This music has been set as a phone ringtone."
Now press the Back arrow icon on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
We are looking for the Settings application.
It looks like a cog icon. We can also find the settings icon by swiping down on the notification panel. Press down on the "Settings" icon. It will open the "Settings" menu.
Scroll down until we find "PERSONAL" in the grey box.
Underneath it, will say the word "Personalize".
The icon beside it looks like a picture of the HTC One M8 with a paint brush inside of it. Press down on that option.
When the menu opens, scroll to the bottom.
Look for the "SOUND" section, in a grey box.
Under it, there is a section that says "Slot 1 ringtone".
Under it is the file name of the voice recording that we have just made. We can see that it is now the new ringtone for our phone.
This then concludes our tutorial on how to set a voice recording as the ringtone for the HTC One M8.
