Use Unsharp Mask on Images in the GIMP App
Edited by Freya, VisiHow, Eng
You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we're going to show you how to apply an "Unsharp Mask" effect to an image in GIMP in Windows 7.
Then, move the cursor to "Enhance".
Click "Unsharp Mask..." from the menu that appears.
A dialogue box will appear where you should be able to see a preview of your image.
To navigate the preview either click and drag the preview or click the scrollbars in the dialogue box.
If you cannot see the preview, then check the "Preview" box.
Next, you can change the "Radius" value.
You can do it by using the scrollbar or by typing the radius you want.
You can also change the "Amount" in the same way.
After that you can change the "Threshold" in the same way again.
This is good for creating abstract images if you make the change very dramatic.
Click "Cancel" to cancel the changes.
Once you are satisfied, click "OK".
The changes to the image will be applied.
