how to "edit" an existing memo?

I can't seem to see a way to EDIT an existing memo, why would we have to DELETE an entire memo just to edit something in it?

Tap on the location within the memo. You can also double-tap on the location to select a word. A blue handlebar will appear. This will enable editing. Tap and drag the handlebar ends to select more text to edit. Alternatively, tap on "Select All". With the text selected, you can either type text or tap on "Cut", for example.
