Facebook has integrated a new search engine in its search bar which is called Facebook Graph Search. Graph Search gives you more detailed searches on Facebook content by narrowing down or refining searches to give you a new level of user experience.

To start Facebook Graph Search, you need to do the following:

    Sign up for Graph Search (beta) by going to www.facebook.com/about/graphsearch .

    Click on the "Join Waiting List" button.

    If your Facebook Graph Search has been activated, then you can start using it right away.

Here are some searches that you can do with it:

  • You can search anything based on these parameters; Names, group, place, time/date.
    • "Photos of Basketball team in Juneau Alaska taken in 2013"
  • You can use degrees of searches like:
    • Less specific: "Photos taken in Hollywood"
    • Specific: "Photos of my friends taken in Hollywood"
    • Very Specific: "Photos of me and my wife taken in Hollywood last month"
  • Search for things on your Facebook content.
    • "Photos I liked"
    • "Videos I disliked"
    • "Videos I commented on"
    • "Photos taken before 1999"
    • "Photos taken in Anchorage Alaska"
    • "Photos of my friends taken in Anchorage Alaska"
    • "Photos of my family and friends taken in Anchorage Alaska"
  • Search by group.
    • "Photos of my family in Disneyland"
    • "Photos of my friends in high school"
    • "Photos of my friends in youth camp"
  • Search by time/date.
    • "Photos that were liked last week"
    • "Photos that have comments today"
    • "Photos that had comments last February 2013"
    • "Photos that were liked after 2010"
  • Search for people's interests.
    • "Movies that my friends like"
    • "Music that my friends like"
    • "Restaurants that my friends go to in Ketchikan Alaska"
  • Search for almost anything that you can think of like:
  • Find People.
    • "People who love hiking in my town"
    • "People who love playing World of Warcraft in Anchorage"
    • "People who love hiking in Sitka Alaska"
    • "People who love halibut fishing in Ketchikan Alaska"
  • Find a perfect match.
    • "Single men who loves cooking and lives in Ontario Canada"
    • "Single women who loves rock band in Sitka Alaska"

Tips Tricks & Warnings

  • Facebook Graph Search is still in beta state.
  • Facebook Graph Search may or may not be available to you immediately.
  • You might be included on the waiting list before this function activates on your account.
  • You can also use the Graph Search bar for normal online searches. It will use Bing for normal online searches.
