Edited by Grimm, Imado, Eng, Anonymous
Hi. You are watching VisiHow. Today we are going to show you how to work with the General Settings on Kids mode, on your Samsung Galaxy S5, or S5 mini.
let's get started by pressing the lock button, on the right hand side of your phone.
One press on the lock button, will bring up your lock screen.
Here you will be enter in your pattern, pin, pass-code, or swipe as in my case.
Once you've done that, you will be in the home screen of your phone.
If your setup like me, and you have the Kids Mode application on your main screen, you will see a yellow background icon, with a little green crocodile face in it.
If however you do not have that there, what you will do, is to go down at the bottom right hand side of your phone, and we will tap on the Apps button.
One press on Apps, is going to open up the applications folder, you can scroll through all the applications, until you find the Kids Mode icon.
Tap on this icon.
Tapping on the Kids Mode icon, will open up a screen, and we will tap on the parent and child icon below.
Which is the icon for parental patrol mode, as you see, it says Go to parental control.
We are going to enter our PIN, 1234.
This will open up a window.
We will tap on the three line icon, on the top left hand side.
This will open up the Parental control section.
We are going to pass all the items mentioned in the list, and we're going to stop on General, by tapping on it.
Now that we've tapped on General, you can see that we have a selection of six different options.
First one is the 3D tilting effect, what this does, is when you tilt your phone, left, right, it tilts the back, so the child actually see's it moving as if they are looking into something. it is pretty cool effect, some parents and children like it, some parents don't. I have turned it OFF.Next, is Block the Back key, this stops the child from being able to use the Back key. I have it turned OFF as well, because we are teaching my son how to use the phone, in addition to have play games on it. However for my younger children, who are not yet ready to learn how to actually use a phone, we turn it ON, we do so because usually when they are playing a game, the phone is held like this.
If the phone is held like this, little finger are pressing up here, by the Samsung area.
And the bottom area, and if they hit this button.
This button takes you back, and then they closed their game, they will get frustrated, they don't understand what is going on.
Next is Change the PIN, you may your PIN code from 1234 to something even more complicated.
You can reset everything.
If you tap reset, it's going to ask you enter in your current PIN, and it is going to reset everything, your child's data, and all his information.Do not do this, if your child has a lot of things saved as min does, otherwise you will have a very upset child.
We are going to cancel that and go back, by tapping here.
Check for updates.
It's important from time to time to check for updates, sometimes there will be a security update or a future update, which will improve, enhance, or otherwise add to existing futures, that is a very important thing to do.
Tap on the Open source license.
If you are like me, this pretty much means nothing to you.
If you did not disabled your back button, you can now press back.
But if you have, you can still tap up here, and that will take you back.
That, ladies and gentlemen, Mothers and fathers, children trying to figure out how to get around your parental controls, that is how you manage to control the application. Now what we are going to do, is press the home button one time.
Which is going to take us back to the home screen for Kids Mode.To get back to the normal home screen, we need to press the icon with the little door inside the mountain.
Enter in our secret 1234 PIN code.
Now we are back on the home screen.
Ladies and gentleman, this concludes our tutorial for how to navigate the General Settings in Kids Mode, and use them.
