Not clear where the sub menu button is to pull up. Unable to pull up a sub menu as shown in my Galaxy S5

The sub menu will appear only if you are going to tap and hold the free space on your keyboard. In the step 3, you will see there the tiles for the letters. Normally they do not have the sub menu on screen for you to select the Emoji to place it in your SMS or text messages. There are small space field each tile to separate from the other, you need to tap and hold the free space then the sub menu will appear on screen and select the one that looks like a smiley for you to insert emoji.

Aside from the built in emoji for Samsung Galaxy S5, you can also download an application called SMS PRO, GO Keyboard and the GO SMS PRO. These applications and add on's are free from your Play Store, search for the names of the add on and the application for you to download and install. This is only optional as the Galaxy S5 has a built-in feature for Emoji. There are some reports that some Samsung Galaxy S5 do not have a built in Emoji and these phones are normally provided by carriers like AT&T, Verizon and etc.

What do I need to do to use Emoji on my Facebook?

You need to be using the latest online version of Facebook. This may vary depending on your phone and the version of Facebook, as well as whether you are accessing it through mobile, or with the online application. In either case, there are differences in the actual Facebook software which cause these problems. Unfortunately some versions will accept Emoji from Android phones, and some will not.

Why can't I receive Emoji on my Samsung Galaxy S5?

I can send Emoji to both iPhones and Android phones and the other people will get them just fine. When someone with an iPhone or Android sends any to me, I can't see them. They show up as ?=? and the words are spaced out. Can you please help me?

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

This is due to one of three problems.

  1. 1
You may have a virus on your phone.
In this case, you will not be able to see Emoji or other texts. To correct this, you will either need to install a virus program, or perform a factory data reset.

  2. 2
You may be running an older version of the Android operating system.
This seems unlikely, as you're using the Galaxy S5, and able to send Emoji. Still, you can upgrade to the latest version if you are not running it, which will correct this problem and let you receive Emoji on your phone.

  3. 3
The people you are exchanging messages with may be using Handcent.
In this case you may not be able to see their Emoji on your phone, because you do not have the software installed yourself. This is unlikely though, because you specifically mentioned iPhone users. They have no need of Handcent to send Emoji.

I can see and use Emoji with no app on texting but I can't on Twitter?

How do I use these on Twitter, Instagram or whatever. I can use them on my normal text app but not on Twitter.

Different versions of Twitter will support Emoji or not, depending on how they are accessed, or the web browser you are using. Please try accessing Twitter through your browser, or using an alternate method of inputting the Emoji text to see if it is accepted (such as typing them into your text editor, and then copying and pasting them into Twitter).

Can I use Emoji on Facebook with the Galaxy 5?

I have the Emoji on my keyboard but they don't show up when I type a message on Facebook?

This is because the input methods for Facebook are different depending on which application you are using to access Facebook with. For example, some versions of the Facebook App do not accept Emoji input, but browser and chat methods do accept Emoji input. If your preferred method of entering Emoji text does not work, try an alternate method, such as using the Facebook Chat, or a web browser.

I have an S4 Samsung. I would like the same Emoji keyboard as the S5?

I've downloaded one from the APP store but when I type them they are just plain, no colors, white on a black background. when I get them sent from an S5 they are not the same.

With the Samsung Galaxy S4, if you're running the latest OS, you will have access to the hidden Samsung Emoji, which you can find by scrolling up to the beginning of this tutorial, and reading about them.

What to do to receive emoticons?

I can send them and iPhone and Android phone users get them. I receive things like 0=DL

The updated Emoji keyboard works for all devices. If you're seeing things like 0=DL, that is indicative of an unsupported Emoji type, meaning you'll need to have another program or app installed to see those Emoji. Is this happening for all users, or just some users? It's possible that some people in your contacts list are using programs that your device doesn't support. You can also use the updated Google Hangouts to send Emoji, and see if this works for you.

How do I get emoji's as the only setting under the Gear shift so I don't have to drag my finger across the Gear shift to get to something as simple as Emoji?

I used to be able to press the Gear shift on my keyboard and it would go straight to the emoji's without holding down anything. But now, I am not able to do that for some reason. I need help getting that old feature back because I do not like the extra two steps when it can be as simple as pressing the gear shift on the keyboard and seeing the Emoji.
