Steps

    From the home screen, tap on Notes

    If you have a note open, you can always go back by tapping on "Done"

    Then, go back by tapping "Notes"

    Then tap on the icon in the lower right-hand corner to start a new note

    Start a dictation by tapping on the microphone icon in the lower portion of the virtual keyboard

    If this is your first time using "Dictation", the phone will ask you to enable it.

    "This is a test of dictation. Period. New line. You can dictate to the iPhone using this function. Period. New paragraph. If it messes you up..."
