Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to use the Cool Tiles application to break an image down into sections, so that it can be used for multiple live tiles on the home screen of a Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, swipe the lock screen up to get to the home screen.
On the home screen featured in this demonstration, there are two adjacent images of the head of a Toucan.
This is an example of breaking an image down to create multiple live tiles when using the Cool Tiles application. One image is split into two different tiles.
First, find the Cool Tiles application tile.
It has a purple background, and in the middle there is an image of a phone with several different colored squares on its screen. If Cool Tiles has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find it in the Apps menu.
Once Cool Tiles has been located, press it to enter the application.
Swipe left to get to the "Tiles" screen.
Press the plus sign in a circle at the bottom of the screen to add a new tile.
On the next screen, press the second tile from the left on the bottom of the screen.
There is a white image of a photo of a map inside a white circle. Below the icon, it says, "background".
Next, press the icon on the right at the bottom of the screen.
It is a white circle with the image of a square broken up into four equal smaller squares.
Different options for creating the tile are shown at the bottom of the screen.
These are different ways to dissect or break down an image.
Tap on the four tile option to try it.
This is the icon that shows four different segments. Tapping on this will open up the images saved on the phone.
Choose an image by tapping on it.
On the next screen, hold and drag to move the image to a desired place within the square.
When satisfied, press the checkmark at the bottom of the screen.
It will the cut the image into four equal tiles. It has been dissected, and there are now four live tiles.
To accept this, press the checkmark on the left at the bottom of the screen.
Now, the four different sections have been entered into the gallery images. A tile for each part of the original picture needs to be created individually.
Press on one of the images, one part of the original image, to open it and create the tile.
Tap on the second icon from the right, which looks like a white flower inside of a white circle.
It says "app" below the icon, and this is what we will use to choose an application for the tile.
Choose an application by pressing on it.
Press the first icon at the bottom to pin it to the home screen.
The icon has an image of a push pin in a white circle. Below the icon is the word "pin".
The icon will now appear at the bottom of the home screen.
Repeat this for each tile until all four parts of the image are on the home screen. Once they are on the home screen, the tiles can be moved around and put in the correct order.
To move a tile, press and hold it until it is activated, which will be indicated by a push pin icon at the top right corner of the tile.
Continue holding onto the tile while moving it around on the screen.
When the tile is at an acceptable location, let go, and tap on the tile once again to cement it in place.
The two toucan tiles are currently in the correct position, but they were not correct when they were first pinned to the home screen. They had to be moved to the correct position.
This concludes our tutorial on how to use the Cool Tiles application to break an image down into sections, so it can be used for multiple live tiles on the home screen of a Microsoft Lumia 535.
