Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

Edited by Mark Joel Cristobal, Lynn, Eng, Leomar Umpad and 14 others

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean via CyanogenMod 10.2 for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is amazing. Tab 2 has a lot of features that are similar to the normal and official firmware of many smartphones, such as Jelly Bean. Since Samsung has not yet released the official firmware, Jelly Bean 4.3 for Samsung Tab 2, there is another way to get that firmware version - flashing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 through Cynogenmod 10.2.

Is this the original firmware for Samsung tab 2?

The instructions here are all about Cryanogen Mode 10.1. Samsung has not rolled out the Jelly Bean 4.3 update for Galaxy Tab 2. CM 10.1 is a custom ROM that allows you to experience 4.3 on your Tab 2, while it is not officially out yet.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking. Firmware refers to things embedded into the device that can not be changed once it has left the factory. What I believe you are asking is, if that is the original Operating System for that phone. If that is the question then no, it is not.

I have been running and updating with CM-10.2 nightly.

I did not want to go to CM-11 so I decided to install the latest stable code CM-10.1.3 and now the Tablet won't boost. I would like to find the latest cm-10.2 nightly to try it.

This update is not the official update for this particular device, meaning there will be errors and bugs involved in updating your device, regarding the device's capabilities. My recommendation is for you to stick with the software that came with the device to prevent further damage to your device.

If you have your Tablet's brand and model number, you can download the latest cm 10.2 nightlies here:

Check the device list on the left hand side and click on the one that matches your. You will then find all the available downloads for it.

After rebooting, Error box appeared saying Android Keyboard stopped working. Advise?

Everything worked fine until after rebooting - the CyanogenMod account has an error box saying, Android keyboard stopped working, so I'm stuck in there. Please help!

This means that something has caused your application to crash, which more than likely came for the update you've applied to your device. You can simply reboot your device in order to get rid of this error. If the problem persists, you will need to Factory Reset the device for further error-free use.

This is an error that occurs on these kinds of devices when you either have too many applications open on the device, or you have more than one keyboard application being used on the device. Simply go to settings>>>>application manager>>>Android keyboard>>>>clear data and cache to get it a quick restart.

Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7.0 jellybean 4.3 compatibility

No, unfortunately the device is not yet compatible with that device at this time and will more than likely not be compatible in the near feature because of the devices capabilities. You can continue to check its availability through the update device option located in your settings to check if you will be able to update your device successfully.

Officially, there's no jelly bean 4.3 update for your Galaxy tab 2 7.0. The specs here show 4.2.2 as the latest update for your Tablet:

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_2_7_0_p3100-4543.php

Unofficially, though, you can install a basic 4.3 custom ROM that does not have Samsung's Touchwiz UI. Be advised that in order to do this, you will need to root your Tablet and also install a custom recovery.

How do I know which firmware is specific to my device?

Firmware question on upgrade to jelly bean 4.3

It's very easy to know what firmware is specific to your device. You just need to know your Galaxy Tab 2's Model number such as P3100, P3110 and P3113. You'll find your model number by looking at the back of your Tablet. It is usually written there. You may also find out what it is by going to Settings>About Device on your Tablet. Then if you are going to download the firmware from CyanogenMod, you will know if it's for your device if the model number under the "Device" tab and your device's model number are the same.
