Unlock screen without alternative password for Samsung Galaxy S5?

My Galaxy S5 was in my pocket all day. When I got it out it was asking me for alternative password but I never set one up.

Your Samsung Galaxy S5 is asking for an alternative password because at some point the fingerprint scanner was set up. When your phone doesn't recognize the correct fingerprint, it asks for the alternative password so you can get into your phone. If you never set up your fingerprint scanner on purpose, you may have accidentally set it up in your pocket; in this case, since you don't remember your alternative password and since your fingerprint will not work on the fingerprint scanner, you will need to perform a Factory Reset. This process will remove all of the data from your Samsung Galaxy S5; however, since you cannot unlock your phone, this is the only option you have to unlock your device. To learn how to perform a proper Factory Reset, read through and follow the steps in this great VisiHow article.
