Questions and Answers

How do I turn my Samsung S5 on when it cut off by itself?

My Samsung S5 just turned off by it self and I can't get it to turn back on. I have held the button on the right for 30 seconds and it won't turn on Help please

It is possible that your Galaxy S5 simply has a battery that has run out of charge. In this case, you will need to recharge the battery before you will be able to use the phone again. If you have already tried recharging the battery, you can also try to take it out, and then replace it to see if it is still unable to charge.

If you still can not get it to work, take your phone and charger to any cell phone repair shop or store that sells S5 batteries. Try putting a new S5 battery in your phone. If the battery works, then you just have a problem with either your charger, or your battery. In this case, see if they'll test your phone charger on one of their units to see if it is working, or if they'll let you try to charge your phone for a few minutes with one of their chargers. Sometimes it can just be an issue with your USB cable, rather than the actual charger.

If these steps do not help, and a new, fully charged battery does not work, or a new charger won't charge your phone, then you have a more serious problem. In this case, you will need to repair your phone.

Power button will not work. Even putting the battery in, the phone won't come on. I've got it hooked up to the computer. Is there any way to turn it on from the computer?

Samsung S5 won't turn on, because the power button won't work.

If your phone will not come on due to an issue with the power button, then it needs to be taken to a shop for repairs. However, based on the description you've provided, it seems more likely that your USB cable / charger cable or battery may not be functioning properly. A quick and simple test is to try a different USB cable. If that does not work, then have a friend with an S5 come over with his charger.

Was this helpful? Yes | No

First, test his charger on your phone. If it works, then you have an issue with your USB cable or your charger. If it does not work, then do a quick battery swap to test his battery in your phone. If your phone comes on, then it's a battery problem you have, and a new battery will fix it. However, if your phone still does not come on, you have a more serious problem, and will need repairs.

Samsung S5 unresponsive after upgrade?

I responded to a prompt for an AT&T upgrade, now phone is unresponsive. Device Options sometimes comes up, but it is unresponsive. Trying to reboot.

Answer: I took that battery out of my phone which forced it to restart itself. No data or anything was lost and I have not had problems since.

I just got my S5 yesterday and overnight it randomly shuts off. It also did this once yesterday....Any suggestions?

How to make phone stop randomly shutting off

Perform a factory reset by reading this article.

If it still restarts, then there is a possibility that the power button (or any other hardware component, actually) of the phone is faulty. Bring your phone to a service center to have it checked.

There's also a possibility that your phone software has become corrupt. You should consider flashing your phone software.
