Turn off Voice During Incoming Call or Message in Galaxy S4 Marshmallow vs Lollipop vs Jelly Bean/Kitkat

Edited by Jerry Rivers, Eng, Lynn, Charmed and 11 others

The S Voice by Samsung for the Galaxy S4 is intended to make life easier so that you don't have to struggle to check for incoming calls and text messages while involved in an activity such as driving your car, jogging, doing chores, or walking. It also is a wonderful audio assistant that will read text messages to you aloud if needed. It is especially effective in keeping everyone safe from distracted drivers on the roads in this age of constant mobile device communication. Today, as a matter of fact, there are more teenagers in the United States killed or injured as a result of distracted driving, (in their cells talking and texting), than any other reason. Using the S Voice with the Driving Mode on the Galaxy S4 is one way of preventing this situation. However, there are times when you may wish to turn off the S Voice on incoming calls and text messages on your Galaxy S4. Below, are the steps you can follow to shut off the S Voice when receiving a text message or call.

Annoying voice for phone, message and e-mail notifications?

I would like to turn off the voice notifying me of phone calls, messages, and e-mails.

You have more likely activated the driving and handsfree profile, that's why it has those voice notifications. It reads through the commands so you won't have to look at your device while you drive, but you'll know what messages have been received. Just turn off that profile and switch to regular mode.
