Edited by Thor, Alexander Avdeev
Welcome to VisiHow! In this video, we are going to show you how to turn on or off the WiFi hotspot icons in the Microsoft Maps application when using the Microsoft Lumia 535.
Turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Once the phone is activated, swipe the lock screen up to get to the home screen.
On the home screen, locate and tap the Maps tile to enter the application.
The Maps tile has a blue background with a white map in the middle. Scroll down if it is not visible. If the Maps application is not pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find Maps in the application menu.
Move around the map to reveal black icons with three white arcs and a dot.
Those are WiFi hotspots icons.
Tap one of the hotspots to see the information about it.
To go back, press the white arrow at the bottom of the phone.
Overall, finding hotspots on the map is useful, but sometimes the hotspots might not be needed. For example, when the map is zoomed out (this is done by pinching in on the screen), the icons become cluttered, start to take a lot of space, becomes a little obtrusive, and prevent looking for other things. Let's turn these hotspot icons off.
Tap the icon with three white dots in a line to bring up a menu.
Tap "view options".
Under "VIEW OPTIONS", locate "show nearby WiFi". There is a white check in the white box. That means that the option is activated and all of the hotspot icons are shown on the map.
Press the white box next to "show nearby WiFi" to either disable or enable visibility of WiFi hotspots on the map.
If there is no check, the visibility is disabled. For the demonstration, the option is turned off to show the difference.
Press the white check in a white circle at the bottom of the screen to go back to the map.
There are other options on the map, but the WiFi hotspot icons have been removed. The map has become less cluttered, and other options have become more evident. The remaining icons are personal favorite places that are saved onto the map. Those might include important locations, friends, houses, restaurants.
This concludes the tutorial on how to turn on or off the WiFi hotspots icons in the Microsoft Maps application when using the Microsoft Lumia 535. If you have any questions or comments about this video, then please them in the comment section below. Thank you for watching VisiHow!
