Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This video will show you how to turn on or off the 'Message' sound on a HTC One M8.
Begin by pressing the top power button to turn the phone on.
To unlock the screen press down and hold on the screen then swipe up.
The unlocked phone brings up the 'Home' screen with icons at the bottom of the screen.
Enter the 'Messages' section by clicking the icon which is a square speech bubble with three green horizontal lines in the middle of it.
Enter the 'Settings' menu by clicking the three vertical white squares in the top right-hand corner.
Click 'Settings,' which is the second to last option of the pop-up menu.
Click the first selection called, 'Notifications' to view options.
The second option called, 'Play notification sound' has a checkmark in the box.
This indicates that the phone will play a sound when a message is received.
Similarly, the phone will 'Vibrate' when a notification is received, as indicated by the checkmark in the 'Vibrate' box.
To turn the 'Notification Sound' off, click the box until the checkmark disappears.
Turning off 'Notification Sound' turns off all of the other options and alerts associated with it.
To turn 'Notification Sound' on, click inside the box until the checkmark appears.
This concludes the tutorial on how to turn on or off the option to play a sound when messages are received on a HTC One M8.
