Edited by Thor, Courtney, Eng
Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to turn on and off notifications from the Photos application, on an HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button.
This button is located on top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen.
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe upwards.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen.
At the bottom of the screen, there will be a row of five icons. It is one of these icons that we now need to access, as we need to open up the Applications folder.
Tap on the center icon, located in the row of icons at the bottom of the screen.
This icon features a grid of small, white dots. This is our Applications folder icon.
The Applications folder will now open up.
We can see it is labeled with the word "Apps", written in white text, in the top left-hand corner of the screen. In this folder, we need to find the Photos application.
Locate and tap on the Photos application icon.
We can see that this icon features a pinwheel, made up of four different colors. Underneath it will read the word "Photos". This application location will vary, depending on where we personally placed the application icon.
We will now be taken to the Photos application.
In the top left-hand corner, there will be the word "Photos" written in black text. Now we need to find the Settings menu, within the application.
We now need to tap on the three, gray, horizontal lines, located in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
This will open up a white menu bar for us.
We are now going to tap on the second option from the bottom, labeled "Settings".
To the left of this option, there will be a gray cog icon.
This will open up our Settings menu for the Photos application.
Now we are going to scroll down until we have located the "Notifications" section.
"Notifications" will be written in blue, at the top of this section.
Underneath, there will be an option labeled "Notify on this device".
Currently, this option is activated. We can tell because the indicator icon to the right of this option is currently blue. This means we can receive notifications from the Photos application.
To deactivate this option, simply press down on it until the indicator icon gray.
The gray icon will signify that this option is turned off. The screen may jolt slightly, changing the position of this option.
To reactivate this option, press down on the "Notify on this device" section another time.
This will once again, turn the indicator icon blue. This signifies that this option has been activated. It isn't totally necessary to receive notifications from this application, as it is not something that is very urgent. This is an option we can choose to turn off if we would like to. Since it is not like Facebook or Email, where we are going to receive constant messages, it does not have so much urgency. It is perfectly okay to have it turned off, without facing any consequences.
This then concludes our tutorial on how to turn on and off notifications from the Photos application, on an HTC One M8.
