Hello! Welcome to VisiHow! In this video, we are going to show you how to turn login approvals on and off in Facebook on the HTC One M8.
To begin, we turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, we swipe the screen upwards.
Once the phone is unlocked, we will see the home screen, and there will be icons at the bottom of the screen. It is one of these icons that we need to access now as we need to open up the applications folder.
We need to tap the "Apps" icon in the middle.
The icon is located at the bottom of the home screen. The icon has a grid made up of white dots. Tapping this icon will open up our applications folder.
In the applications folder, we need to find and tap the Facebook application icon.
The icon has a blue background with a white "f" on top. Underneath, the icon has "Facebook". Tapping the icon will open up the application.
We need to find "Account Settings" now.
To do that, we tap the icon at the far right-hand side of the screen. The faint icon has three horizontal lines in the white bar. Tapping it will reveal a menu.
We may need to scroll up or down to find "Account Settings".
We need to tap the "Account Settings" icon to open up a menu.
The icon has a circle, a white outline of head and shoulders, and a small white cog icon.
We need to tap the second option at the top of the screen, "Security".
We tap the word, and a menu will be shown. What we want in the menu is to find how to turn login approvals on and off.
We need to tap the "Login Approvals On" option.
There will be some information on the screen. Specifically, "When logging in from an unknown browser, you'll need a security code. You can only get security codes from your phone's Facebook app or by text message. By entering the code, you can prove that it's really you trying to log In." Before we see the screen, we might have needed to enter our password. Now, the understanding of the function is that it is going to help protect us. So, when we log in from another browser, then Facebook is going to ask us for a security code just to confirm that it is we.
If we want to start the set-up, we need to tap the "Start Setup" blue bar.
The application will say, "We'll text a code to..." list our number, and say, "...to confirm that it's your number."
If we want to change our phone number, we tap "Change Phone Number".
We tap "Continue".
Facebook is going to send us a text message.
If we swipe down the notification panel from the top of the screen, we'll have a code number.
We can write the code number down.
Now, we are going to swipe back up to get rid of the notification panel.
We tap "Confirmation Code".
We enter our confirmation code that we have received by SMS.
We tap "Continue".
The application will say: "You're done setting up Login Approvals. You can turn off Login Approvals without a code for the first week." We can turn this option off within the first week, and then we'll need a code to turn this option off.
We can tap the "No, thanks.
Require a code right away." option to check it and enable codes to work, starting immediately. We tap the option until the box next to it has a blue check inside.
We tap "Close" in the big blue bar.
This will close the option. "Login Approvals On" will have a blue check inside.
If we want to turn the "Login Approvals On" option off, we tap the blue box.
The new page will say: "The security code is no longer be required when logging in from an unknown browser. Do you want to disable login approvals?"
If we want to disable the login approvals, we tap the blue bar.
That will disable the option. As we can see, we'll be back to the "Security Settings" screen. The box next to "Login Approvals On" will be empty, indicating that we disabled the login approval option.
