The arrow with a line underneath it is the download icon. It will appear when your phone is downloading an update, an application, or a file. Once the file is done downloading, the icon will be fully white; to remove the icon, swipe down from the top of your screen and swipe each notification away.

I have a number in the top-left corner of my Samsung Galaxy S4?

I have a number in the top-left corner of my Samsung Galaxy S4. Is this a virus? I have tried: a restart. I think it was caused by: a message said that I had a serious virus and offered to download a program to get rid of it. I've removed the program, but I noticed this number in top-left corner.

There are many applications that use numbers for system icons. Pull down the notification panel from the top and see if you can get to this icon or number. Read what the associated message shows and maybe tap on it or uninstall the application. You can also go to the home screen > "Apps" > "Settings" > "Application Manager" > "DOWNLOADED" and uninstall any programs that you do not use. After rebooting the smartphone, see if the icon is gone.
