Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to sort the list of hotels in your current location when using the TripAdvisor application on a Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.
Swipe this up, and this will take us to the home screen.
On the home screen, we need to find the TripAdvisor tile.
It has a green background, and in the middle is the TripAdvisor logo, which is an owl with two large hypnotic eyes. If the TripAdvisor tile has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left and find it in the Apps menu.
Once TripAdvisor has been located, press down on it, and this will allow us to enter the application.
Once the application is loaded, swipe across the screen from right to left, and this will take us to the "near me" section.
The words "near me" appear at the top left-hand corner of the screen in black.
We want the "hotels" section, so press on the green button at the bottom with the word "hotels" on it in white.
Now, we have entered that section, and we can see all the hotels that are in our current location.
In this section, we can sort the list in two different ways. One way is by popularity, and the other is by distance.
Press down on the third icon of the three icons at the bottom of the screen.
It is a green circle, and inside that circle are two arrows. One arrow is pointing up, and the other is pointing down. This will bring up the sort options. Unfortunately, there are only two options. It might be better if there were more options, such as finding hotels in certain price ranges or different styles or packages.
On this screen, if we press down on the word "Popularity", it is going to sort the list of hotels by popularity.
This means by the reviews people have left for these hotels. Each hotel has a ranking system. There are five circles, and the circles are either green or white. The more green circles, the better the review, and the more white circles, the worse the review.
The top review on this page has four circles that are completely green and one circle that is one-quarter green.
Therefore, that's quite a good review. We can see now that these are all sorted by quality or popularity.
If we scroll down, we'll see that the worst hotel on the list has four green circles, but that is still not bad, 4 out of 5.
One or zero green circles out of five might indicate a reason to worry.
Press the sort icon with the two up and down arrows at the bottom of the screen.
Now, press down on the word "Distance".
With this option, it is going to sort the list of hotels by how far away they are from our current location.
In order for this to work properly, make sure that the TripAdvisor application and the Microsoft Lumia 535 are allowed to track your location.
From the numbers of the right side of the screen, we can tell that distance is measured in miles.
This can be changed to kilometers if desired. A video on how to do that can be found on this website.
As we can see at the top of this list, the closest hotel is 0.19 miles away, the VIP Victoria Hotel.
There are some others not too much further as well.
We have sorted hotels in our current area by either popularity or by distance.
This concludes our tutorial on how to sort the list of hotels in your current location when using the TripAdvisor application on a Microsoft Lumia 535.
