Sing without Nasal Sound
Edited by Toradze, VisiHow, Eng, Anonymous
You're watching VisiHow. This is a video tutorial series on how to sing. In the previous tutorial, we discussed how to practice singing properly. In this tutorial, we're going to teach you how to get rid of nasality while singing.
- 1When speaking, you may find that you use your nose and soft palate too much, which create nasal sound. You may have even heard that using your nose while singing may be beneficial. In some cases, it can be. However, when you use nasality, you are actually closing the voice. For certain vowel sounds such as ee, nasality makes the sound more clear.Advertisement
- 2When singing other vowels such as open "A", "O", or "You", using the nose will produce too much nasality in the tone of your voice.Make sure that when you use nasality, you do not close the throat. You still want to keep your airway open and support your breath with the diaphragm muscles in order to produce good sound.Advertisement
- 4Focusing on the mouth will produce a more resonant sound.Allowing for some nasality on mi, as it is important for the ee sound. For the remaining vowels, we do want to avoid using too much nasality. The best way to remove nasality from your voice is to find a teacher and record yourself, so that you can understand what you are doing incorrectly with your mouth and nose.Advertisement
