Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to sign up to Twitter using the Twitter application on the HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen and multiple icons at the bottom. It is one of these icons that we will access to open up the applications folder.
Tap the icon that looks like a grid of white dots, that is located at the bottom of the screen in the middle to open the applications folder.
Find the Twitter application, and tap on it once to open the application.
The Twitter application has a blue background with a white bird on it, with the word "Twitter" underneath it. Your Twitter application may be in a different position in this folder, therefore you will need to find it.
Tap on the blue button that says "Create my account".
Once the application has loaded, it is going to ask us to create an account. It's going to ask us to log in because we have multiple Twitter accounts on this phone that we've used for other video tutorials, but we will want to sign up instead.
Tap on "SIGN UP", located in the top-right corner of the blue bar located at the top of the screen.
Now we're going to be asked to enter some information.
Tap on each box to enter the information for that particular category.
We have to enter an email address, phone number, name, username and password of at least 6 characters.
Tap on the box next to "Upload my address book to connect me with my friends" to enable or disable the option.
If the option is selected, the box will be blue with a white check mark inside of it. When this option is enabled, when we sign up it will upload our address book and connect us to everybody in our address book that has Twitter. If we don't want to automatically upload our address book and connect to everybody, make sure the box has no check mark in it.
If we scroll down more, we can tap on "Advanced options" to see more options.
Tap on the box next to either of the options to enable or disable them.
These options change how easily we want to be discovered by other people, if we want to be able to be discovered by people who type in our email address and or phone number, we can activate or deactivate these options specifically.
To go back, tap on the arrow located in the top-left corner of the screen.
Once all the information is correct, we'll tap on the blue "Sign up" button.
It's going to ask us to authorize Twitter for the HTC Sense to use our Twitter account. This is a good idea as it helps us get the most out of our Twitter account if we connect it to HTC Sense.
Tap on "ALLOW" to authenticate and continue.
It's going to ask us to enter a phone number, and if we like to we can skip this step.
In this example, we'll skip this step by tapping on "Skip" in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
We can add a number and tap on "Add phone" as well. Now it's going to ask us for some information regarding our interests.
Tap any of the boxes next to the categories to add a check mark and select that category as something we're interested in.
To undo a selection and remove the check mark, tap it again.
Once we're done selecting interests, we'll tap on the blue "Continue" button located in the bottom-right corner.
Now it's going to ask us what people to follow.
We can tap on the box near the top-right titled "Select all" or "Deselect all" to select or deselect all of the people in this list to follow.
As a default setting, it is set to follow everybody in this list. We can also select who to follow individually by tapping on the box next to their name.
Tap on the blue "Follow" button located in the bottom-right corner.
The number located next to "Follow" indicates the number of people we have selected to follow at this moment.
Here we can update our profile, but in this example we're going to tap on "Skip" in the bottom-left corner and skip this step.
We're going to skip this step.
It's going to take us into the Twitter application, and notify us "Your account appears to have exhibited automated behavior. Please add your phone number to confirm that you're the valid account owner."
Tap on "Dismiss" to skip this step.
As we can see, we have successfully signed up for our Twitter account and we are ready to use Twitter.
This concludes our tutorial on how to sign up for a Twitter account using the Twitter application on the HTC One M8.
