Show and Hide Hidden Files on Mac
Edited by Djinu, Alexander Avdeev, Eng
You're watching VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show how to show and hide hidden files on the Mac.
We open up Finder.
We'll see that it might not be showing any hidden files.
We type in the following code:
"defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES". We press "Enter".
We press "Option" and right-click on Finder.
Once Finder relaunches, we'll see the ".DS_Store" files.
Those are hidden files.
If we want to rehide the hidden files, we click on Terminal.
We type the same line of the code from Step 3, but instead of "YES", we write "NO".
We press "Enter".
Now, we press "Option" and right-click on Finder.
We click "Relaunch" once again.
".DS_Store" files will be not shown in Finder anymore.
This was how to either show or hide hidden files on the Mac using a Terminal command. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the space below. Thank you for watching VisiHow!
