Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to set up speed dial for a contact in the phonebook of a HTC One M8.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see several icons.
It is one of these icons that we now need to access, as we need to open up the phonebook.
To do that, we can use the first icon located at the bottom of the home screen at the far left-hand side.
It is an icon of a phone.
Pressing down on this icon will open up our Phonebook.
We now need to swipe to the left twice.
This should bring us to the "PEOPLE" section.
In this video tutorial, we want to demonstrate how to set up speed dial for a contact. To do that, we need to choose a contact as an example.
In this example, we'll choose our friend "Terry".
Choose any contact and press down on their name to enter their page or contact card.
Now we need the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
There are three small white squares in a vertical line.
Press down on this icon, and it will open a menu.
Then we need to press down on "Set speed dial".
Now, we need to enter some information.
The first option says "NUMBER".
Just below that it says, "Not assigned" in the gray box, so press down on that gray box.
A small window will appear that says, "Select number".
We have one number, so press down on that number.
If there are multiple numbers, choose the one desired.
For "LOCATION", it also says "Not assigned", so we'll press down on that gray bar.
Now, we have the speed dial locations that are available and those that are taken.
When it talks about setting up speed dial, it means when we open the phone application to call someone, and we see the keypad, we can use speed dial. This means we can just press down on one key, and it will phone the person that key, or number, is connected to.
For example, we have "2:
Stan". When the keypad is open, and we press and hold down on number 2, it will automatically dial the number for "Stan" because we have connected "Stan" to the number "2".
The numbers 4 to 9 are available, so let's choose number "4" by pressing down on it.
Choose any number that is available, perhaps one with a certain significance for that individual contact.
Now, we're going to press down on the word "SAVE" in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
"Terry" is now connected to number 4 on the keypad.
We'll demonstrate how that works now.
Press the back arrow in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
Now we need to swipe to the right two times.
This will bring us to the "Phonebook" again with the phone keypad displayed.
Now, we're going to press down on the number 4 and hold down on that number.
It is going to try and call "Terry", as we can see.
We have canceled the call because we don't actually need to phone Terry, but we see how the process works.
This concludes our tutorial on how to set up speed dial for a contact in the phonebook of an HTC One M8.
