Set Up a New iPhone 6

You are watching VisiHow and today we are going to show you how to set up your new iPhone 6.
To start off with, you are going to need to press either of the home buttons at the bottom or the power button on the right side and that is going to open up the phone to this little white screen you see here where it is telling you what to do.
Just give a quick slide across there and it will open up the phone.
It is going to let you know here that the phone was updated and there are a few more steps you need to follow and then you are done.
This happens any time you make a major update to the phone or that you launch or set up a new phone.
So, what we are going to do is tap on the "Continue" button.
Once we tap on the "Continue" button, we are going to need to set up iCloud.
All iPhones are registered to iCloud accounts these days. If a phone is stolen, lost, taken or otherwise not where it should be. The person who takes it is going to find out that without that iCloud password, there is a lot they cannot do with the phone so let me just enter my password in offline real quick.
Okay, once you have keyed in your password, what you are going to do next is click "Next".
How great is that.
When you click "Next", it is going to update your iCloud settings, let you know how things are.
Sure, iMessage and FaceTime so I have got options of where other people can message me and reach me.
I do not want people to reach me here.
I do not want people to reach me here. I do not want people to reach me here but these two are okay.
iMessage and FaceTime means people can contact me on all my devices.
I am totally cool with that. Not an issue.
So, let us go ahead and tap "Next".
And now, you need to use your fingerprint in place of your pass code or Apple ID for purchases if you would like to so you can press your fingerprint or your thumb on the Home button.
Let me show you how that works.
First of all, my advice to you is do not use your finger. The reason you do not want to use your finger is because this is not an actual gesture.
When you are holding your phone, like this and you need to do something.
A natural gesture is to just put that thumb on there.
So, put your thumb on there.
Each time you put it here, phone is going to buzz. Says put your phone on here, lift and press repeatedly. What it is doing is that you can see each time it is filling out that scan. Keep going okay?
Adjust your grip.
Now move it around, tap on continue.
And continue going so that the phone can capture - okay.
"Keep your Finger on the Home Button Until Asked to Lift". My apologies. Every time it buzzes, you feel a little "Bzz" it is time to lift your finger.
Okay, it is complete.
Now my finger can be used for unlocking my phone.
Create a pass code.
You need to set up a pass code for yourself. 1-2-3-4 is what I normally set up but I am going to set up something different this time.
Once you set up your first one, it is going to offer you to put it.
Let us enter in the wrong one.
If you have a wrong one, it is going to tell you "Hi,, these pass codes do not match. Try again".
"Are you sure you want to use this code?". So, that is a bad code, iPhone does a better job apparently than Samsung of telling me that I am doing something stupid so let us change it.
And let me just enter this in off screen here.
Okay, let us put this back down so that you guys can see it. Now I have entered in the code. Phone is set up, more or less and leaning towards being ready to go. Now, I can use Touch ID for the iTunes and App Store too. I am totally cool with that. In fact, I would rather do that than type in the pass code. Much much faster for me to do that.
So, let us tap this here.
And set up my iCloud Key chain on this phone.
I can approve it from one of my other devices using iCloud Key chain or use my iCloud security code. I will have to use iCloud security code.
You will have to watch our tutorial on how to set up an iCloud security code.
Let us go over here so that I enter in my super secret iCloud security code. Okay, now it is telling me that a verification code has been sent to a phone number of mine which I may no longer have so I have to try and figure out what this phone number is. It is one of my phone numbers in the U.S. and it is going to tell me it may take a moment for the code to arrive so I need to figure out what that phone number is whether or not I can access it.
If you do not have access to the phone anymore, you can tap on "Don't have access to this phone?".
You could verify it with Apple Support. That is a bit of a long and drawn out process so what we are going to do is try and get that verification code.
Okay, once you have approved the iCloud Key chain, then you get "Welcome to your iPhone".
So let us tap on "Get Started".
And this will take you right to your iPhone home screen.
So, this concludes our tutorial on how to get started with the iPhone once you have updated it or if it is new.
You have been watching VisiHow, and I hope you have a great day. Thanks a lot.
