Private mode allows you to hide selected files on your phone from others. This is especially handy if you ever allow other people to use or handle your device. If you have certain files on your phone that you prefer to remain hidden, simply turn private mode on and select the files you wish to hide. Once you select files to hide, turn private mode off, and those files will remain hidden. Only individuals who know the unlock code can turn private mode back on. More on hiding content with private mode.

Questions and Answers

My password is not allowing me to access private mode?

I set the password and now it is not allowing access

After you set the password to Private Mode, your phone is still in private mode, so the password will not work. You need to sign out of Private Mode, and back into normal mode. Once you've done that, you will notice that any content or items you set as private are no longer available or visible. Then, you can enable Private mode, which will use the PIN you set, and let you back into Private Mode, where you can see all of your content that was previously hidden.

Thanks for your help. Close - trying to access private mode locked out?

I set up the Private mode - with a pattern but it will not unlock. If I try other patterns it tells me the other patterns are wrong. So I know I am making the correct pattern, it continues to tell me "failed to enable private mode". any ideas ?

Was this helpful? Yes | No | I need help

Use a pin instead of pattern. Private Mode seems to be very touchy and unstable with the pattern locks. Pin will be your best solution to make it lock. Use a pin that you are familiar with. If you set up a fingerprint lock, make sure you also set up the backup password during the set up.

I've forgotten my pattern, how do I retrieve it, or fix it?

Trying private mode on my S5 and apparently I've already chosen pattern

Keep trying because this is the only way to access. There are no other options because this is like your KNOX security. It is meant to never be accessed unless you have the right pattern.

I don't know the code? I've never set it before and it's asking for a code?

I've never established a code, not sure what it is. What is the stock code?

There is no stock code. You must have put in a pattern or pin. Try your ATM pin or birthdate for instance. Otherwise connect your phone to Kies with the PC and backup your data and hard reset.

Sir I want to completely lock my phone?

Sir actually I have Samsung Grand Neo and I want to lock it completely Use the KNOX app on your phone in Security to completely lock down your phone. Make sure to set up a Google Account if you have not done so for the phone first. When you set up the pin, make sure it is something you will recall easily. Avoid patterns because those are easily forgotten or break down if your screen has any oily residue.

I factory reset it and I can't get past the Google account and I watched a video and it said click mode in my camera and it's there but it won't let me click it

If you have Lollipop or Marshmallow installed, you will have to install all new Stock ROM on the device after you hard reset to bypass Google. You can't click it because you missed a step or your phone does not support this method. Find new Stock ROM and install it. Some carriers have the stock ROM on their websites for issues like this so check your Carrier website first.

How do I type a letter into this numbered keyboard?

To reset the password for private mode you have to enter the old password which in the app it tells you to enter at least one letter but it gave you the regular keyboard. Now to reenter the password it gives you a numbered keyboard with letters on the numbers like a phone. I can't make it type a letter. I have looked through all kinds of forums, etc., and no one tells you how to type a letter that totally works.
