Hello. You are watching VisiHow, and in this video I'll show you how to do a search for people and hashtags on Instagram while using the iPhone 6.
To begin, let's slide to unlock the phone.
My Instagram application is located in the Social folder along with other social networking programs.
The Instagram icon looks like a camera. Press to open it.
In order to find people, I have to tap on the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen.
It's the second icon from the left.
On the next page, I have the option to follow people based on their profile or their photos.
However, we want to do an actual search, so we'll tap on Search in the blue area at the very top of the screen.
It automatically shows my previous searches.
For this demonstration, let's look for Monica Belluci.
I only have to type the first few letters of her name, and she appears in the list of possible results.
Let's tap on her name to see her profile.
Well, she has 130,000 followers, so I would assume it is the real profile for Monica Belluci.
We can tap on Follow at the top of her profile to follow her.
For the next one, let's look for Tyra Banks.
I only had to type the first two letters of her name, and there she is at the top of the result list.
Let's look at her profile.
I am already following her. She has over 2 million followers.
If you want to find photos or users by themes, you can search by hashtags.
Tap on Hashtags at the top right, just across from People.
Let's use the same search again to find people or things connected to Tyra Banks.
It looks like she is also a very popular hashtag.
When I tap on the hashtag, it gives me several photos.
Some of the photos are of Tyra Banks, and some are those who I believe just use her name to push their photos.
Next, let's search for beach.
This is one of the most popular hashtags on Instagram. It has 78 million photos.
Tapping on the hashtag for beach brings up a wide variety of photos relating to beaches and beach life.
Let's get a bit more specific.
If I am interested in makeup, and I want to find to find something specific, like "smokieeyes," I can type that into the search box.
I'll tap the first result at the top, it takes me to pictures of people who did or tried to do some kind of smoky eyes.
Alternatively, let's say you are interested in cooking.
Let's type in prawns.
The first result has 400,000 pictures.
There are all kinds of them, and under some you would probably be able to find recipes.
I just showed you how to create a search using names and hashtags on Instagram if you're using the iPhone 6.
